Sooo i've been wearing the same ole same ole ones for so long the straps are finally just breaking. Depressing, I know. I need to buy some new bras and Victoria Secret is not cutting it anymore. Their new stuff is NOT comfortable. It hurts after a few hours, but by then I can't return it! So i'm out $50. Grr. I want something I can wear to work (enough padding so if it's cold i'm not showing) and supportive--i'm a DD and I know a lot of you are, too, if not bigger!

What do you recommend for all-day wear? I don't mind spending up to $80 or so...quality, support, and comfort is #1

OH MY GOSH... I am wearring one now that you'd love, it's from Kohls. I don't want to be sketch by taking it off but I will comment later tonight. it's just padded enough for modesty, doesn't make them look GINORMOUS or flat... just perfect.

I am definitely going to be following this.  I'm a 34DD and haven't owned a cute bra since high school.  I would love to find a bra that is supportive and covered but is cute and doesn't look like my grandma would wear it.

Wacoal, Natori, Le Mystere, and, strangely enough, Gap Body.  I'm a 34DD and swear by all of these.  VS is ridiculous.  I haven't fit in their DDs since I was a C and I get measured twice a year.

Check Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales sale sections (in store and online).  I just got a Wacoal at Bloomingdales for $30.

I'd send you specific links, but everything's blocked at work.

Oh I'm a 38 DD. It's cute and the straps/band are THE most comfortable I've ever experienced.

@Ireland: All I listed have cute bras and Gap Body has them in the sale section a lot!  I've gotten ones in my size for as low as $6!

I'm a 36DD...sometimes I buy a 34 though because they end up stretching out. I get so sad when they just don't fit anymore!!!

Send links/specifics whenever you can ladies, I really appreciate it! My chest is angry with me, lol.

I've tried FigLeaves--they have super cute swimsuits! But their stuff hasn't fit real stellar. I really wanna try something on in store. Oh man, why is Nordstrom always so amazing? lol.

Go to Nordstroms and be fitted.  The ladies there are fantastic and can tell you why one style of a bra will work while another (in the same size) doesn't work for you.  They are amazing.  I'm a 34DD and I swear by Chanatlle bras.  They are not cheap, but they are comfortable, cute, and if you take care of them, they will last a long time.

    ireland!!!  i am a 34DD also, before I lost a little weight, I was a 34DDD!

I have found Chantelles from Nordstroms the most comfortable bras ever.  I mean EVER.  I have a Natori as well, but that is not quite as supportive and everyday, but I know that the FI will like it.

Fig leaves tends to have pretty good prices, but I would suggest going and getting fitted at Nordstroms, and buying them there.  I can not ever find comfy bras at VS, so I gave up...

Chantell has some super cute lacy bras, and they don't look like Gramma Bras at all.

as far as T-shirt bras, this one is super comfy:

    http://www.figleaves.com/us/product.asp?product=Chantelle-Body-Sculpt-t-shirt-bra&product_id=CN-2895&size=34dd&colour=Browns

The important thing to remember is that when you guy the bra, it needs to be on the first hook, so that you can gradually move to the next one as it gets stretched out.

Here is the Chantelle Page from Figleaves and you can see the cute ones!

@EJS: Any of the brands I listed should be good in any styles (I typically grab what's on sale)  In the more expensive brands, their sizing is consistent.

This is the Wacoal I just bought -- the iBra.  Fabulous for everyday wear.

The best and most beautiful bras ever for the buxom gals are the Freya/Fantasie bras. I love them and once I got used to them I threw all the utilitarian bras away! The construction is unlike any bra I've known and the designs are colorful and unusually gorgeous.

Vanity Fair Body Caress. I think they have a few bras in this "body caress" line but man... they fit great! This is mine:

It is affordable and feels REALLY well-made. I like it a lot!

I am a 34D and also like VS bras (although, only a few specific ones) I get about 3 per year and wear them the entire year. I just went about 3 weeks ago and had a VERY hard time finding decent bras though. I have looked at other stores but I get intimidated since I haven't tried them. I need to try some of your suggestions!

Wearing a 32G.  I've sworn by LeMystere's Dream Tisha from 36??? to here.  They rock.  When I went to VS at what they claimed was a 36DDD, they tried to send me to Lane Bryant, where the clerks were awful. :(

Fayreform makes good stuff, and after a trip to SC this summer, PrimaDonna is awesome... but reeeeallly pricey.  It's seeming like they're worth it, though.  Comfy, great support...  pretty darn awesome.

I have a Chantelle, it's alright.  Nothing to write home about like the LM or the PD.  The LM is a solid cup, though, so it gets pretty sweaty in the summer, but I find they're better than any sports bra (even the Enell).  The PD I have is made to breathe, which is nice.  You can see through the cup!

Bali is also a good brand, I wore them up until I was a 34DD, but now they make more sizes, so maybe you'll have better luck.  They make a lot of minimizers, though.

Oh!  And stores:  Dillard's and Nordstrom seem to regularly carry a good variety of DD+ sizes.

I remember when I found a 38F at Dillard's and flipped out at the prospect of finding my size, and the clerk glares at me and my friends like we're immature high schoolers until I grab my size and haul butt to the dressing room.  I was so excited, I wore it out of the store.  And promptly got hit on at the next store.

i find the warner's bras from kohls to be extremely comfortable. this one especially, although it only goes up to a D in most sizes, so i buy the 36D in this brand because it's one of the most comfortable bras i've ever tried on.

    http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/intimates/bras/underwirebras/PRD~253531/Warners+Sleek+Underneath+Contour+Underwire+Bra.jsp

i went into victoria's secret the other day and had them measure me and they said i was a 34DD (which i am). the girl who fitted me said she was the same size that i was and suggested a bra to me. i ended up buying this bra and i was so happy with it that i went back for another when i got another coupon.

    http://www2.victoriassecret.com/commerce/onlineProductDisplay.vs?namespace=productDisplay&origin=onlineProductDisplay.jsp&event=display&prnbr=EF-216025&page=1&cgname=OSBRPMWLZZZ&rfnbr=4606#

i hate that i'm too big to wear cute or sexy bras and even if i find a cute bra in my size, the cups never fit right. i was pleasantly surprised that the VS bra that i got above was both cute and fit perfectly.

I'm in the minority but I wear a 32D and I love the VS Very Sexy bras.  I look great in them and to me they're comfortable.  I wear them all day with no problems.  I haven't bought bras from other designers in years because I love VS so much.

I have no good avice for regular bras since it is always hit or miss for me.

I do, however, have an awesome sports bra to rave about! It is Champion style 1694. It is called the Powerback Underwire Bra. You might not believe me that the underwire is comfortable for working out, but it is! And it totally eliminates uniboob. I feel great running and jumping around in it. It has three rows of hooks and eyes in the back and has adjustable straps. I'd say the only negative about this bra is that it is difficult to clasp in the back when you're putting it on, but once you get the hang of it, it gets easier to do.

Someone said Fig Leaves for bathing suits- any other suggestions? I'm looking for a two-piece where top and bottom are sold separately, obviously with good support on top :)

Jacqi, there's a shop called Everything but Water  they sell larger tops, and matching bottoms.

I had to play around a bit to get something to fit, but since it's a swim top and you can tie it how you like, it's not that big of a deal. I'd wanted a tankini, but figured the back would be too large.

This is the top I ended up getting.  I haven't had a swimtop to fit before this one since I was maybe 14?

I'm quite busty as well and gave up quite awhile ago on Victoria's Secret's ability to do what I need a bra to do!

I highly recommend going to get fitted at either a good lingerie boutique that carries specialty sizes or Nordstrom, where they seem to have excellent selection and customer service in their lingerie departments.

Look for brands such as Natori, Le Mystere and Wacoal (the latter is my favourite), but definitely not until you get properly fitted.

Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be!

I'll have to keep my eyes on this thread! I'm a 38D (kind of a minority here) and VS is very on and off for me. I just got a biofit bra from them in June that I loved, but the underwire has decided to pop out and poke me in the arm-talk about unfomfortable! I think I want to check out some of these links!

    Laugh if you want.

The best bra I have ever owned is from JCPenney.

It's their Ambrielle Micro fiber T-shirt bra. It is perfect is every way.

It is the Holy Grail of bra's.

I'm a 38DD and finding a bra that's comfortable and doesnt make my boobs look weird..not so easy.

PennyDreadful: Not laughing... as a former JCP employee i can hapily say that Ambrielle bras will be in my underwear drawer for the rest of my life. i ADORE them.

and for you VS girls who dont like to spend $50 a bra, more often than not you can get 2/$30 at JCP on Ambrielle, which is a knock off of VS.

I wear a 38D Ambrielle Woman push up bra EVERY day. nothing has ever been more comfortable and looked as good.

I always send the bigger chested ladies who hate our bras to Lane Bryant. Their Cacique bras are really good and not hugely expensive.

I bought two of the bra that KJPugs recommended! And, get this: The lady at Kohl's said even if i wear it for a few days and THEN it becomes uncomfortable (i think we've all had that experience where you have to wear it for more than 10 minutes to really know how it feels), that I can bring it back! It's like a 100% guarantee, love that. I've wasted a lot of money on bras that were comfy in store but couldn't hold up to hours of wear.

I highly recommend Bali brand bras. You can get them on sale at Kohl's for around $25. They offer great support and the underwire never digs in! It's the only brand I've found that doesn't!! I'm a 40C but I know they care lots of sizes.

I am a 34-36/DD and I wear minimizers from Lilyette and Bali (i'll have to check the style number) They aren't the PRETTIEST but they definitely support and keep them where they go! VS Su-ucks. Yup, two syllable suck. The last thing I need is a bra with MORE padding.

BTW- i used to have to wear a shelf bra cami with my VS bras and now that I have the lilyette and bali styles, no need anymore! So much more comfortable

I'm a 36DD and I swear by the bras at layne bryant, they are wonderful and carry all the bigger size bras, so comfy, very supportive straps and the perfect amount of lift and padding, I hadn't been in there cause I thought it was just plus size clothing but a friend told me about the bras after I was so stressed and couldn't find anything at VS, ill buy all my bras there from now on! Good luck on the search!

So many styles & materials.  Even matching panties.  Fair prices too............. $40 range and always on sale.

    Good luck :)
