Before I Go to Sleep by S.J. Watson was really good.. just read that recently. It's a thriller type book.
I have been reading Chelsea Handler lately. I just finished Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang and just purchased Lies Chelsea Handler Told Me. The books are hilarious.
I have also recently read Water For Elephants and Tina Fey's autobiography. All good reading.
I second Water For Elephants. Also, The Help is so good! The movie is coming out soon. Couldn't put the book down. I also just read The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks. Typical love story, but sweet.
Just picked up The Female Brain by Louann Brizendine. Heard good things, hope it keeps me interested
@jalaamarie: Ooh...I didn't realize Chelsie had a new book! I love her!
@futuremrsloveday: "Water for Elephants" was really good! I really want to see the movie "The Help." Great idea to read the book!!! Thanks!
Could you name a book or two you love to help us out?
I just started Jane Smiley's Private Life and am really enjoying it. For something silly and fun, maybe Alexander McCall Smith or P.G. Wodehouse?
I really enjoyed "The Hunger Games" trilogy by Suzanne Collins. I'm about halfway through "The Help" and have trouble putting it down.
@S.H.: I LOVE to read so I have all different kinds of books that I like some of my favorties have been "The Kite Runner," "Water for Elephants," "Something Borrowed" (along with the three after it), "American Psycho," the Chelsea Handler books, Dean Koontz books, I really enjoy memoirs (particulary those that deal with addiction and mental health), etc. I read a little bit of everything!
@RahlyRah: The Glass Castle is really good and seems like it would fit with your interests. Or A Million Little Pieces.
Just finished The Help and loved it! It's long but well worth it. :)
@hilsy85: Agreed that The Glass Castle is amazing.
I just read The Color Purple for the first time and it's incredible. Definitely not a "light" read, but brilliant.
I second Water For Elephants and The Help. Right now I'm reading Jacyee Duggards book and it's taking me forever bc it is so difficult to get through what happened and all the detail. It's definitely not for everyone. Part of me wishes I didn't start it...:(
I just finished the new Jennifer Weiner (she wrote In Her Shoes) and loved it. Before that I was reading a series of memiors by Jennifer Lancaster. They are on the light/funny side, good beach reads. They start with Biiter Is The New Black. Totally recommend them!
Try out Room by Emma Donoghue. Sooo good. I couldn't put it down!
I also loved Little Bee by Chris Cleave. It's a quick read, but it has an amazing plot that unravels in a very unique way.
I also second The Glass Castle and The Help. I'm currently reading Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis (the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers). Freaking love him! His book is amazing, you wouldn't even believe some of his stories!
Night Road by: Kristin Hannah was really good. I read it in about four and a half hours. I could not put it down. It was that good. I've also read True Colors and Winter Garden by her and they were also fantastic.
-devil in the white city (about the chicago worlds fair and a serial killer)
-sarah's key (read the book a while ago and just saw the movie today! soooo good!)
