Anyone have any suggestions at all?
I'd think your cake consultation should help you narrow down what's possible or what they excel at... I think going simple/homemade would be really sweet and tie in with the milk glass well. If you are using any sort of design or monogram, you could probably easily incorporate that into the cupcakes.
We didn't really have a monogram going on but that would be a really good simple idea to put on the top of the cupcakes.
I'm a big fan of simple... especially when it comes to cupcakes. Let the cupcakes speak for themselves! Icing + cupcake is all you really need. I think the extra bling would look cool, but it's really not worth the money. People are just going to chow down on the cupcake & most likely keep the flower or handmade brooch on the side of their plate.
I'm thinking simple would be better too but we actually have a $500 gift card that my mom won in an auction for the cupcakes/cake and we only have about 30 guests so we do have room to play a little bit.
Here's a photo of a cupcake cake we photographed last week (don't worry it's okay I publish this here, couple's okay w/it). It's simple and lovely! They even had a fake flower on top, you couldn't tell it all looked perfect!
I do love the simple look of the cupcakes. I'll figure out with them if it'd be better to make them all uniform (the three or four different flavors) or to let them stand as they usually are (like the Reese's having the peanut butter cup on top then the chocolate having the chocolate chips on top, etc if we choose those). Plus, as you showed, it allows for cool pictures if it's simpler.

I have my cake consultation on Saturday and I have a couple of pictures of things I like but I'm still lost on the look that I want to go for. We're going to have a small cake on top with a cupcake tower. For the small cake I know I want something with a design that comes from my engagement ring as well as to incorporate at least a rose somehow (my wedding dress has roses). However, I'm at a loss for the cupcake inspiration. At first I thought I wanted to do a small flower on the top of each cupcake in light pinks and creams. But I don't want it to look overly garden-y or over the top. I also am having a gorgeous brooch bouquet so I could do tiny edible brooches on each cupcake. I've also been thinking of going more for the homemade simple look and leave the cupcakes how they would normally look (which would be cheaper too). For example, there's a Reese's cupcake that we might choose that i just peanut butter cake with peanut butter icing and a Reese's cup on top, so that'd be what those would look like. But is there a good way to tie that in with the top cake? Maybe if we keep the top one as simple as possible? Also, we're going to go find some milk glass cake stands to make this cupcake tower in a couple of weeks if that helps. I know this is long, but I'm lost and need some inspiration help (pictures, suggestions, anything).
