My last two paps were abnormal. I had a colposcopy last August that showed some low grade dysplasia or mildly abnormal cells. I just had a pap smear last Wednesday. I’m hoping my pap comes back normal. I’m so scared that it won’t and I’ll have to get a LEEP procedure done. Please cross your fingers for me! Thanks bees!

fingers crossed. I had a LEEP done about 3 years ago and heard horrible stories. was it the most fun thing i’ve ever endured? no. But was it bearable? yep. And i havent gotten an abnormal one since then! So even if you do, try hard not to worry they are REALLY QUICK!
Good luck! hoping you don’t have to!

i had stage 3 dysplasia…. and i had the LEEP procedure done.. which was not as scary as i thought it would be, and it was fast…… the doctor had to burn out ALOT of my cervix… but it was still a quick procedure… and i’ve been fine since!
Good Luck Though! i know what yoju’re going through

I feel your pain. I’ve had the same thing. I had 1 colposcopy, the next pap abnormal, another colposcopy, and then the next pap was normal. Send you good thoughts. It sucks for sure, but you’ll get through it!

I had an abnormal pap, a colposcopy, another abnormal pap, and then a LEEP. I didn’t do a great deal of research about the LEEP outside of how the doctor explained it to me, so I hadn’t really heard any stories. It really wasn’t super uncomfortable until they do the local anesthesia to your cervix. A needle in your cervix is never very pleasant, but it’s not unbearable. The procedure was really quick and painless, just a little off-putting because things like that always are. Afterward my Bridal Party shot up really high because of some bad cramping and a little anxiety, but i was fine within a few minutes. I really didn’t have a lot of pain after the procedure, maybe some while I was resting for the rest of that day of the procedure. The worst part was the 3 week moratorium on sex. The best part was the 3 week moratorium on strenuous things or heavy lifting. The doctor told me I shouldn’t take our 100 pound dog out on his leash while I recovered. 3 weeks of Fiance taking him up and down the stairs of the apartment complex we lived in at the time everytime he had to go potty!! (the dog, not FI)
Short response: definitely sending good vibes…I’ve been there and done that!! If it doesn’t turn out normal, though, don’t worry. The LEEP may end up being worth it…after mine I’ve had probably a dozen paps (you have to get one every 3 months for a year, then every 6 months for a year, then back to once a year) since then and all have been perfectly normal. I was glad the LEEP got all of the abnormal stuff out of me!

Update: I just got back my results yesterday and they were normal. Thanks for all the good vibes, bees! Hopefully, my next one will be normal as well, so I can go back to yearly checkups.
I’m sending good vibes and crossing my fingers for anyone else going through the same thing, including @andersonsarah
