@7monthbride:  This is just my preference, but I think it is better to have a placecard for each person.

Yeah, I like place cards for each person

Placecards must be one per person, but escort cards can go either way. I prefer one per person, but you can easily do one per party.

An escort card tells the guest what table their seat is at and a place card is preset at the exact place at the table where they are to sit. You do not need place cards if you have escort cards, but you must have escort cards if you have place cards. Since place cards go at the seat, there must be one per seat, so one per person.
