@jothecatlady:

Definitely go with edibles. (I would skip the cigars; just like not everyone drinks, not everyone smokes.)  Macaroons sound awesome. Could you do them in your wedding colors?

If you’re going to do favors, do edible ones.  Otherwise, just skip them.  Like you noted, people usually leave the favors behind and they end up being a pretty colossal waste of money.

@jothecatlady:  I vote cookies, macarons are great – everyone loves them and you can get them in any color combo, chocolate dipped oreos are also good.  I did cookies (see below) they were under $2 per favor and I had none left behind.

I agree- edible is always a good way to go. We did scratch off lottery tickets. I ordered glassine envelopes online and I found a website online to make heart shaped stickers with our name, date and colors on them to seal the envelopes- they were really cute and easy. The total cost per person worked out to about $2 a person: $1 lottery ticket, envelopes between about 40 cents each and stickers about 40 cents each.

Go with edibles. You’re not going to find anything non-edible that people will love without spending a lot of money. I know I would appreciate something edible.

You’ll never get something *everyone* likes and wants, but edible, most people will take it. 🙂

I did macaron favours a my wedding 3 weeks ago and they were really popular. Barely any were left behind!

I had three in each box and a persnalised label that matched the rest of our stationery.

@jothecatlady:  i love the macaroon favour idea.  edible favours are typically the most popular.

i did specialty edible favours too.  i found that boxing these up yourself may be a lot cheaper than having the supplier do them for you.

Congrats on your big day!

I agree M&M’s are just too expensive, once you figure the cost of the candy, a container and decoration it just looks so cheap given what you’re actually spending on it…….and having them make the favors again real expensive and it still looks like M&Ms……

You have a really good budget set aside for  favors.  Since I am using an amazing baker for our wedding cake I asked him about making small cakes as  wedding favors.  He is making beautifully decorated 3″ two layer cakes (I left cake and fillings up to him so there will be many different kinds) packaged in a small box that has a little white bow and a window in it. so the guests can see the cake inside.  They are really beautiful and the best part is each favor is under $5.00 ea.

I had labels created for the boxes so not only do they work as the favor, but they are the place card as well. I printed my labels by table and my caterer is putting the labels on each box after the tables are set.  Not having the baker put the labels on made it realy easy for the caterer and it’s one less thing to worry about.

If you wanted a bit more DIY you can get small cakes from a good bakery or even a supermaket like Whole Foods and package them yourself……only drawback is you’ll be packaging either the night before or morning of the wedding…….for the extra bit I let the baker handle it so they show up done with the wedding cake.
