We did ours at the now closed Fort Ord. The pictures were beautiful and fun.
Check out my bio for examples. http://sites.google.com/site/thekozakwedding/ We did ours in SF & I think they turned out great!
Hi SweetKate,
I'm not too familiar with the East Bay but one location that we did take pictures in when we got married there was at Lake Meritt, absolutely gorgeous. My other recommendation would be to explore the East Bay together since you're not short on time, drive around and pull over when you find a unique spot, you never know what you might find that isn't your typical "traditional" epic location. Go out to Jack London Square maybe? and explore the area.
If you're considering SF, I wrote a post a long time ago of possible locations where we took pictures and also another after we had done our e-session of the places we did hit up.

Good luck - hope that helped.

I'd suggest the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens: http://botanicalgarden.berkeley.edu/
located in the Berkeley hills. Bonus points if you pose with a Venus Flytrap! :)
I am going to take my engagement pictures in less than a month. I told my fiance where I wanted to take our pics 3 weeks ago and he was sort of on the fence about taking our photos in the spots that I have chosen but he seemed like he would be ok with it.
Yesterday I brought up the engagement photo locations again and he said that he did not want to take them at any of the locations that I had chosen. I wanted to take our photos at the Japanese tea garden, the palace of fine arts and the marin headlines. My fiance thinks that all of the pictures will come out really dark because it might be an overcast day. That and he hates the city.
Is there any where in marin or in the peninsula where I can take pictures that will still look like they have character? I need help.
Also, what colors can or should I wear when taking my engagement photos? I bought the most adorable black skirt and black top from Bebe and cannot bring myself to return it if I cannot wear it in the photos. My photographer thinks that if we take photos in an outdoorsie area that the pictures will not pop as much. I can exchange the top for the red one but I think that the black top goes with it more since the skirt has crystal accents on it. What should I do? Wear all black or get another outfit?
East Bay: I haven't been but I think one of my officemates mentioned hers were going to be taken at Morcom Gardens.
Peninsula 1: It pains me (as a Cal grad) to say it, but I know a lot of people take pictures at Stanford.
Peninsula 2: Pulgas Water Temple

So our session is this Sunday and originally we were going to go to Capitola but after much consideration we decided it would be too crowded and traffic getting there would be a pain. Our photographer, who happens to be our best man (don't worry, his brother is photographing the wedding!) lives in the east bay and we live in the south bay. So either way one of us is going to have to drive a bit.
Any reccommendations in or around the east bay/south bay?
