Okay Bees, I’m at a complete loss here.
I have 2 FABULOUS, BEAUTIFUL BMs, and am trying to find a dress (or several dresses to choose from) for them to wear for my wedding. The problem I am having is that I am tall (5′ 8″), and both of them are short (5′ 3″ and 5′ 5″). The real challenge is one is very thin (size 0) and the other is curvy (size 8-10) and has been blessed up top (LOL).
I was hoping to find something that they will both look stunning in, and will be comfortable in. I am having a formal wedding and the colors are blue (royal) white and silver.
I am considering it an honor that they agreed to put up with me (LOL) on my wedding day, an want them to know I appreciate all their help and their friendship. That’s why I am going to be paying for the first $100 their dresses, and all their accessories (except shoes, their choice). I am also going to be taking care of hair and makeup on the day of.
So my question is…what style/length/silhouette would look best on these wonderful friends of mine? I’m not totally opposed to different dresses as long as they coordinate well. I haven’t picked my exact dress yet, but I know it will be a white formal ballgown style in satin or taffeta (no lace), and I am trying to avoid strapless due to my chest size. I apprecate any help you ladies can give. Please rescue me from drowning in BMs dresses. LOL

do as so many bees have done – bring the two of them to a good bridal shop, with lots of choice, and pick a colour and fabric that works and let them pick the style themselves. The only way to save everyone’s sanity.

I would let your bridesmaids wear diferent dresses in the same color. Just make sure you pick a designer you like and have them choose from any of that designer’s dresses. I decided to be even more lax with my bridesmaids because they range in size from 0 to 22, even the same fabric won’t look good on them all. I want my bridesmaids to be comfortable and not hate their dresses. All eyes will be on me no matter how good my bridesmaids look because, I’m the bride! =o)

Oh, I forgot to add something. The thin Bridesmaid or Best Man is 39 but looks like she’s 24, and the curvy Bridesmaid or Best Man is 26. So both of them would probably prefer a younger style of dress as opposed to something matronly.
Thanks Again Bees!

@Thrakena: I have a bridal party of different shapes and sizes so they are going to get their dresses probably from The Dessy Group. They are getting the same color, fabric and possibly length but they can choose their style.

Since it’s April in Louisiana I’d go with a shorter style. Since they’re both younger and have good bodies I’d say you can do something above the knee even. There are some strapless gowns that work great for bustier ladies so maybe have them try things on to see what they’re comfortable with, but since you’re going for straps you could definitely find some nice options with straps. High necks tend to look bad on women with larger chests though one shoulders sometimes work–and would look younger.
The rest kinda depends on your wedding and your style. Ruffles or simple? A-line or straight skirts? Flower/bow details or not? Shiny or matte fabric? And you’ll have to see if they come in a shade you could work with.

Thanks for all the suggestions ladies! We are going to have a girls day out in a few weeks where we start with an early lunch, then go to 2 local bridal shops to try on dresses, then dinner with the guys and our makeup trials after dinner. I even joked about renting a limo for the day.
I am really looking forward to a girls day out, and have decided to let the 2 ladies pick whatever they want as long as it looks good on them and comes in blue. I have no doubt they will pick something fabulous!
