For mine we played a fun game that was like the newlywed game. They asked my fiance questions before the shower and I had to guess his answers to things. The guests bet on how many I would get right and the winner got a little prize.
here is a link to a whole host of bridal shower information:

Ones I have attended have been about 2 hours.
Showers usually last a maximum of 2.5 hours in my experience. HOWEVER, a little shorter would be better, in my opinion. And please oh please, don't take too long to bring out the food. I planned the rest of my day around this! As a guest, i hate it when time is just going on AND ON and ON and it seems like nothing is happening. I would start with one short activity, then food, then one short activity, then presents! then, anyone who wants to stay longer can stay longer, have some other stuff available to do, like another game or something. I always like gift bingo because it keeps me interested in actually seieng the gift opening.... i also really like the "who knows the grrom best" or the bride or whatever. the answers to the quiz are always really funny!
Good luck!
OH, and booze :)
I agree with the other ladies on length, 2-3 hours is plenty.
The Newlywed Game is cute. My guests at my shower LOVED the toilet paper wedding dress game. They had a ball and got really competitive.
Favors: Something edible is your best bet. Homemade cookies, chocolate or even a small candy buffet. We had a tea party, so my MOH did a teacup with teabags for each guest.
For prizes, we hit up Victoria's Secret when they were doing their body care 8 for $35 and gave out the lotions individually.
At my FDILs shower, we are asking each guest to bring a pair of unwrapped panties in her size. Then we are going to ask her questions like "what pair would you wear if you had to tell hubby you spent a lot of money?" or "what pair would you wear if you needed to get his attention while he's watching a big game?" Then the person whose panties she picks gets a prize! A variation of this that we did at my nieces shower was she would pick a pair out of a basket and try to guess who gave them to her. If she got it right that person got a prize. And the bride goes home with a drawer full of new panties!

I am hosting a shower for my daughter, really never thrown anything like this before.
The order of events for the day are to be a late luncheon bridal shower and then to be followed by a fun party.
How long does the average shower last, what's a good time frame?
Also what are good shower favors/prizes??
Thanks in advance for your input!
