My wedding is on the 27th in our backyard, LOL.  We told guests to wear anything “wedding appropriate” which they are comfortable wearing to an all-outdoor event.  I do not expect for people to be dressed to the nines, because ultimately I’m more concerned with their comfort since we won’t be in an indoor space with AC.  From what I have heard, a lot of people are picking out dresses similar to the one you posted – not super dressy, but not too casual either.  You could always dress it up with some accessories or a nice shawl too.

I like the blue dress.   I think it’s formal enough for a backyard, outdoor wedding.  But if your worried you can always get some dressier shoes and accessories.

codysgirl16:  I’d either do a nice wedge or metallic flat (depending on your comfort level).  For accessories, I’d say something middle of the road, you want just a touch of bling.  Maybe some simple dangling earrings and simple pendand or simple studs and an awesome statement necklace.

    Think this:                                                                 Not this:

codysgirl16:  Hahaha, I’m THE SAME WAY with accessories.  I have a pendant necklace I never take off either.  And I almost always wear the sapphire earrings H got me for our 1 year anniversary.  I’d probably keep the necklace and swap the earrings (or get a second hole and wear both which is what I usually do, lol).

I definitely think that gold/yellow would work with that blue.  But I’m a Michigan fan, so I think blue and gold ALWAYS goes great together.

codysgirl16:  I’d probably go for a flowy maxi-dress. I’m of the mind that it is always better to be overdressed than underdressed, so I’d find one in a fairly formal fabric. I’m 5’2″ and I wear them, the one thing I notice is that when a maxi dress has a natural waist, it seems to make me look shorter, I go for ones that are a bit empire waisted. And of course I hem the bottom.
