I need some help. I'm about 6 weeks out, and I cannot find a reasonably priced person to do hair and make up and come to us in White Plains (in Westchester). Does anyone have any suggestions of people that would do this? I never thought this would be the most difficult part of the planning process! Haha. Thanks ladies!
I hired John Carter who works at Marie Bove salon in NYC 212-533-3400. He charges $100 flat travel fee (which for you might even be less) and $180 for both hair and makeup for the bride and anyone else. I thought that was really good because he doesn't charge the bride more. He has done about 10 girls weddings I know and they all looked so beautiful. Unfortunately he may be booked though. I just saw him and he has a lot of weddings coming up.
You can try Reiko Utsugi. She lives in Queens but has a car and will travel. I don't know what her travel fee is, but she charges $525 for hair and makeup for the bride and 2 other bridesmaids/moms. I booked her and she's been really great and responsive so far. Her email is <span class="HcCDpe">reiko.makeover@rcn.com
I used Zena from www.redcarpetbridalbeauty.com she does hair and makeup but I only used her for hair. I thought she was great, and she is fun to have the day of, but she might be on the pricier side. Prices are on the website - she will do the whole party's hair and makeup for $2000 on site but she also has a la carte options if you have a smaller party or don't need all those services.
So I found one place that would do hair and makeup for 150 each. I guess that's not that bad, huh? It's just major sticker shock for me. All of my girls are coming from all over and already spending a ton of money. I was hoping to keep just hair to $75 and both to 125 or so. But the hair price is the most important for me. They said they would do 100 for just hair, that's just high to me. So am I just dreaming then? Haha. We got our hair and makeup done for $50 total!!! Yes, it was in Virginia, but still! Haha. Any other ideas?
I think your best option might be going to a salon then. When you get them traveling to you and they are so called "experts" in the wedding area the price gets severly jacked up! Also if you are near a mall I know many girls that just go to the counters in the morning you have to buy 1 item usually and then you leave with your makeup done and something you might actually like to use. It all depends if you have the time.
