Alrighty bees, here's the dealio.  For a couple of reasons, we canceled our honeymoon to Jamaica.  After thinking on it for a few weeks, we both realized we "settled" on the resort we chose because it was the best deal.  Then we realized we weren't all that excited and beings this is a once in a lifetime trip for us, we want to go somewhere we are EXCITED about.  Here's the dilema, we have found two awesome places, but we can't make up our minds.  That's where you guys come in hand!  Oh, I should probably let you know both are comparable in price (give or take a few hundred $s) and we're planning a weeklong honeymoon, fyi.

    1) The Ritz Carlton St. Thomas:  Not all inclusive, but there is a $100 resort credit/day that could go towards food.  Resort fees cover all use of water sports (yay).  Already found tours that I want to do to the B.V.I. along w/ St. John.  Note, I (but not DH) have already been here and LOVED it and would go back in a heart beat.  I keep thinking back to the week I spent on the Ritz's beach and it was pure heaven.  Here we would take a day trip to Trunk Bay in St. John, a day down in Charlotte Amalie, and float on over to Virgin Gorda to the Baths.

    2) Sandals Grand Bahamian:  Here we would be most likely getting the Royal Village Honeymoon Villa Suite, which comes with a butler.  We're really not "butler" type of people, but we LOVE the fact that your personal butler will reserve your beachside palapas and swimming pool chairs for you so you don't have to get up at 5:00 in the morning to do so.  I hate to say it, but that's one of the main reasons we want a butler.  I burn so easily, so I would need a palapa on the beach and who wants to get up at 5:00 a.m. on their honeymoon?

Anyhoo, we'll obviously be happy just to go on a honeymoon, but we can't decide at all, and need to do so very soon.  We won't be able to take any trips of this caliber for a very long time...think 20 yearsish. lol  We can afford this trip and won't go into debt for it, but afterwards, we'll be buckling down on finances beings the hubs will be in school and we want to have kids in the next few years.

Just another thought...have you looked at the Excellence Resort in Punta Cana. Adult only, all inclusive and absolutley GORGEOUS!!!! And affordable. It was the adult only that caught my eye. I like kids but I don't want to hear them early in the morning on my honeymoon.

Boy.  I had to vote for option 1.  I could practically "see" your eyes sparkling when writing about it.  The only good thing about option 2 is the butler? :)  Seems like you could go on and on about St. Thomas.

I way, way heart Virgin Gorda. I wouldn't, personally, be into St. Thomas for a honeymoon, though. It's insanely crowded with cruise tourists during the high season and can feel like a madhouse. The butler treatment at the Grand Bahamian sounds much more honeymoon-like to me; very relaxing and, I'm guessing, more private than most accommodations. And having a butler is just hilariously over-the-top in a great, once-in-a-lifetime way.
