@VictoriaK1990:  I currently live in South Florida, about an hour north of Miami.  Hurricane season officially starts in May and lasts until November, but to be honest, the season doesn’t really get fired up until July/August.  If you’re still nervous about hitting hurricane season in the Carribean (perhaps it’s different from Florida), might I suggest a honeymoon in the Florida Keys, Miami, or even Mexico.  My advice is to look on LivingSocial and Groupon for trip deals.  Be careful to make sure the coupon won’t expire before your trip or that you’re able to book it for the dates you want… It might be a bit soon, but you can get great inspiration from the sites also.  We got a great LivingSocial deal for our honeymoon, coming up in just a few weeks!  We got a deal for an all-inclusive resort stay in Cozumel, Mexico… in a luxury (ocean view) room, for 2 people, 5 nights, and including all of our food, drinks, and even a day at the spa, for $500.00 total.  You should definitely check it out!

EDIT: If money is truly no option, the hotels in Miami and the Keys are SPECTACULAR. Look up the W hotel or the Delano in South Beach… Amazing! You’ll feel like a celebrity, have PLENTY of sandy beaches and crystal clear turquoise water to enjoy, and the weather will be great in May!

@VictoriaK1990:  Plan to go to the Carribean if that is your heart’s desire. Hurricane season won’t fire up too badly in May – just tropical depressisons mainly. You should be good!

I would stick to the caribbean.  Hurricanes dont really hit (if at all) until Aug-Septmeber.  And the further south you go, the less likely at all.

You should be perfectly fine with the Caribbean in May.  As a prior poster noted, you really should not have any issues there until July.

I also love Bermuda, but I decided not to chance the weather in May for my own honeymoon during that time, because i was concerned that the water might still be a bit cold.

I agree with PPs about May and the Caribbean.  If you are concerned, from what I’ve read, Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao are supposed to be outside of the hurricane belt.

@VictoriaK1990:  If money is not an issue then forget the Caribbean and check out Bora Bora or Tahiti or Bali! Hot weather and gorgeous beaches!

As others have mentioned the Atlantic Hurricane Season runs June 1st to November 30th, with the most and biggest storms happening August – September – and October.  Early June won’t be too problematic… BUT the Caribbean will be uber-hot then.  That alone might be a reason not to go.

Someone else mentioned Bermuda… which is technically not in the Caribbean but actually in the Atlantic due-east of South Carolina.

Infact, May & June are the PRIME Months for visiting Bermuda… and you could fly there or go via Cruise.  (Not a lot of ships / cruiselines go there… but those that do tend to leave from either NJ / NYCity area… or Baltimore).

If you want “the feel” of the Caribbean without the oppressive heat at that time of year, Bermuda would be an AMAZING choice.

If you choose to stay on land…

Come June 1st all points south of Virginia are going to have decent weather… the further south you go the hotter it’ll be… both in the air, and in the water.

I give HIGH MARKS to North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia & Florida Coastline / Beaches.  And The Keys are breathtaking… (a piece of the Caribbean right in Mainland USA) altho they’ll be more on the humid side as you again are going further south.

Hope this helps,

@VictoriaK1990:  We are getting married May 16 of 2014 and we are going to Bali. May through september is suppsoedly some of the best months there. Its very tropical weather similar to florida. We are leaving the day after our wedding and will be staying for 9 days.

@VictoriaK1990:  I believe St. Lucia, Aruba, and Grenada are all beneath the hurricane belt.  Also, Bonaire, Curacau, Tobago… you still have plenty of options.
