Bees, I’m having such a hard time coming up with an idea for pew decorations. I want them to be as inexpensive as possible because I need 16 of them. The problem I’m having is, the pews have a little shelf, so I can’t hang cute little pomanders or anything. I don’t want to set something on the little shelf incase somebody would knock it over. This is the best picture I can find of the pews.
Does anybody have ideas? What does your pew/aisle decor look like?

@Fall_In_Love22: We had our florist tie a little bouquet of roses to each pew. I have to admit, it wasn’t the cheapest thing in the world (and looking back, was frankly a bit stupid of us because they were in use for what, 30 minutes?)…but that being said, it was BEAUTIFUL, and if it was done with less expensive flowers, I think it would be great! This is an example pic that I showed my florist. Sorry for the crappy photo, but I had scanned it from a book. I can’t totally tell from the photo, but is there a little piece that sticks up at the top of the pew that you would be able to tie them onto? If so, you could shorten the stems to get around that little ledge yet they wouldn’t fall off.

What a beautiful church!!! I would do a small floral arrangement, silk or real, in a ribbon that is tightly tied on the top of the pew – above the box.

I like the look of pillar candles at the end of the pews on the floor

@Jamie42003: Well, that’s an idea! Then I wouldn’t have to pay for/make anything. Do you think it looks to plain? It would look as it does in the picture, we can’t have an aisle runner.

I would focus my attention on the decor up front at the altar that is where everyone is going to be looking anyway. Or you could do something like this http://www.weddingandpartynetwork.com/gallery/photo/1439/. It looks like they have tall candle holders. 🙂

Could you use pomanders that hang over the edge of the shelf, maybe with thick ribbon in your colors?

If you really want some aisle decor, I would take advantage of that shelf. It will make your wedding unique. It`s hard to tell how wide the shelf is from a pic , so these ideas may not work.
If you are concerned about guests knocking something over, I would have the ushers seat people from the side aisles.
If you are having an evening wedding,I would do candles. You can use LED candles and secure them to the shelf with floral putty.
It looks like there is too much daylight for candles to be effective during a daytime wedding.
In that case I would find some sort of narrow rectangular container- search the dollar stores, import stores etc. You could use florist foam and real flowers or prepare something ahead of time with silk ivory and golf flowers. Use the same florist
s putty to secure them to that shelf. If you cant find anything the right size you could use ice cube trays and spray paint them gold.
