I love the simplicity of the design, and it’s super flattering! I agree with altering the back to a V, and adding buttons, as at the moment it is a bit ‘meh’. But otherwise it’s lovely!

I like the dress as a halter (even though I voted no). I think that before you commit to it, you should look for a similar dress that already has detail.  I’ll look for some links for you but they’re out there. All else aside, the shape of the dress is amazing on you!

@aggie2010:  I love the shape of the dress and whilst it’s “simple” (not beaded or covered in lace) it certainly isn’t boring. I absolutely agree with you about the zip. I’d put buttons over it rather than turning it into a corset.

The advantage of a simple dress is that it won’t date badly. Simplicity is always stylish.

I like it, but not if you make it a halter. I find that halters on gowns are less formal and since you are already concerned about the simplicity of the dress, I think the halter only exaccerbates that issue. In my opinion, halter tops are for bathing suits, but you should do what makes you happy.

Personally, I wouldn’t change anything about it. I think it’s a lovely dress, and gorgeous on you – your figure looks amazing!

@aggie2010:  I like the halter, actually. I think it gives it gives a very flattering bust-line.

@aggie2010:  Not a problem at all! Just remember, if it is strapless you can add the halter feature you want! If you need a hem, a seamstress can use that leftover fabric to make the strap so you don’t have to purchase more.

My first opinion is keep shopping!!! You should keep trying to find something that you absolutely love. That being said…. I was able to score a free sample from a local designer that was moving away. The silhouette and basic fabric of the dress was exactly what I wanted, but it is completely plain. 100% nothing on it. Since the dress was free, I’m willing to spend some $$ to get it made into exactly what I want. (Especially because I want over the top sparkle lol)

A seamstress told my mother and I that the most cost effective way to add embellishments is to buy fabric thats already embellished itself! I think the silhouette does do amazing things for your figure (you look rockin!!!!) and if you wanted to dress it up, maybe shop around for lace/sparkle/beaded fabric that you could take to someone and they can dress it up? especially if you’re going to have it made into a halter, you could do that with the fabric.

Gorgeous, I love it!!! Particularly as a halter and with buttons up the back. It gives you a knockout hourglass figure. I definitely don’t think it’s too simple – but then, I don’t like a lot of the current trends, with tons of ruffles and bling, so that’s my bias.

You know what, I’m neutral on the dress. I think it’s pretty, but I’m a little underwhelmed.  I’d love to see it with all the accessories to get you all jazzed up!  Veil thoughts?  I think this dress can be a great “canvas”!
