Do you need the fan for the breeze or the noise?

ETA:  I just reread.  It is the breeze. (Sorry.)

Anyway, here are some options.

Place your bed so that you are nearer to the window. Have him sleep in warmer pj’s (or whatever), Use a fan that you can aim directly at you rather than the ceiling fan that will cool both of you, and you sleep in cooler clothing and/or with no covers.

Can you get a little fan to put on your nightstand or something so that you can feel the breeze but it isn’t really powerful enough to blow much on him?

Some very happy, successful couples sleep in differnent beds. Sorry, not the answer you are looking for, but just know that it’s not the end of your relationship if have to sleep separately.

Have you tried to aim the fan just at you, or towards a wall?

@LissaBabyxo: What do you mean by “he’s been getting sick”. The fan certainly doesn’t cause illness.

Given that you have had to wear earplugs to be able to sleep with his snoring, I think he owes you an effort to adapt to your fan.

The fan probably just dries out his airways too much. Set a pan of water so that the fan blows over it and increases the humidity. Should solve the problem.

I def understand where you come from, FI and I are very different sleepers, he sleeps soundly (and snores) I sleep lightly and have to wear ear plugs.  I can wake up in the same position I fell asleep in whereas the whole bed needs complete stripping and re-making every morning from the amount he moves around!

The biggest prob for us was temperature, he gets hot at night and I get cold.  Even in winter he sleeps with just a sheet, so I have the same sheet and duvet and then double up another duvet on top of me so my side is heavier.

Nights that we both can’t sleep we stay in the same bed but have different duvets, doesn’t happen often and means we both get a good nights sleep!

like nzgirl, we use multiple duvets to solve our temperature issues.  I need the big, heavy, warm one (or 2 in the winter). He likes to fall asleep with a light blanket but will steal mine in his sleep if he doesn’t have his own.

Maybe you can find a way to be cooler without the fan blowing on you? It will save electricity 🙂
