So my long awaited engagement pictures are being done this Friday! Its getting slightly chilly out, but I think our outdoor shoot will be beautiful.
But, its not JUST outdoors. Its on our fishing boat. The photographer will be on her husbands boat taking the pictures. We’ll be anchored and her boat will circle around at her command. I can’t wait!!
Anyway, I had planned for a summer shoot, but schedules couldn’t jive. The leaves are changing so the look I wanted has to be revisited. All of the foliage will clearly be seen. My dilemma? My Fiance. He is happy in jeans and a t shirt. He’ll wear the occasional collared shirt, but when he’s on the boat, he’s usually dirty as hell. I don’t want us looking like some stuffy “yachters”, that’s not us. There’s bait and guts and hooks and an occasional fish flapping around. But, none of that is what I see as ” appropriate for engagement pics. (I swear, the boat is kept clean!) He’s not opposed to wearing something nice, but I don’t want to look weird. I guess casual but put together?
Grrr, we have been together 5 years and I have THREE pictures of us together. We’ve managed to somehow miss nice pics of us anytime we’ve dressed up. The three pics are just of us that we randomly took. So these engagement pics are such a huge deal to me.
P.S. I’ll take advice on what I should wear too!

Put Fiance in jeans and a nice polo shirt. Dressy but he’ll (hopefully) still feel like himself

Agree, for your Fiance – jeans and polo shirt, a jacket if it gets chilly, and maybe a scarf so you can get different shots wearing different things (without the costume change).
For you, wear something you would usually wear in autumn – its better to go with the weather than against it. If that means jeans for you too do that and wear a nice blouse and scarf. Take a jacket and a nice jumper so you can mix and match without having to change properly. Wear boots or if you fancy it- wellies! You could get some really cute pictures with wellies on- especially being around water if you get any photos on land first next to the boat.

I’d put Fiance in jeans and one of those half-zip pullovers, possibly a collared shirt but with a sweater over it.
And a cute sweater with jeans for yourself. The boat idea sounds really neat.

Thanks ladies, I like the polo and half zip idea. I guess we can GI grab some new fishing boots too, ones that aren’t stained with fishy guts-lol

MrsBagel: I think casual plaid button downs would be cute but I’m a sucker for plaid button downs (and I’m not a hipster, I swear). And if he has an old worn-in pair of fishing boots I’d totally feature them, adds character!

MrsBagel: Fiance in jeans and a collared long sleeeve buttondown plaid flannel. You in jeans and a cute form fitting sweater (or leggings with boots and a long sweater). I think that would look cute but still natural.
