I think it would look beautiful to have the center diamond set with two of the marquios diamonds, one on either side, long ways like this–> <>O<>. I love this idea, btw ๐Ÿ™‚

ETA: I just noticed the 3rd link PP listed…this is what I was trying to describe ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m so very sorry for your loss and I think it is wonderful that you have her ring so she is always with you.  I think there are a lot of different things you could do with those stones to make a stunning engagement ring.  And if you don’t use all of the stones in the engagement ring, you can use the others in your wedding band or perhaps have earrings made of them.

I don’t have any suggestions (sorry),, but just wanted to say that your mom’s ring is BEAUTIFUL!! God luck with whatever you decide to do!

I think the very last picture you posted, like this: <O> was the best way to update the ring… most modern way to re-set those particular stones in my opinion!!

I took my mom’s wedding set from my dad (they divorced and she waited til I was 18 and told me I could either take it or hauk it, my choice though) and got it reset into a right-hand ring. The stones are of great quality, but I love the new ring I had and it only cost about $400. It was a center-stone (about .25 carats) and 15 (I think) small stones, so most of the cost was the resetting fee, and I think the actual setting was $150 ish. I don’t have a picture with me now, but I’ll take a picture tonight and post if you’d like

I haven’t read all of the previous posts but my FI’s mom has a right hand ring that is a row of marquise diamonds and it looks good!  I can’t find one that looks like it right now but they’re all set like you usually see a marquise engagement ring, vertically, and they are all next to each other.  It looks like the one your put up in post 8, just with more diamonds in the row.  Then you could make a necklace out of the center stone.  I’m not sure if Kay is the only place in your area, but I have not had good experience with them re-sizing any of my rings and I would not trust them with something that precious.
