I need help with this too, so I can't offer much advice...but I just wanted to show some appreciation for your head heart. I have a whole album of head hearts in my photo booth.
You could always get the clip in extensions that are already curled. THen when your hair is pinned up, it'll just look like YOUR hair.
And yeah...Georgia summers are why i chopped all my hair off when i lived there.
As far as keeping hair curled, Redken Spray Starch and Aquage products are what my SIL uses on her clients
I would make sure to use an anti-humectant in your damp hair and then another one for when it's dry. And then hair spray the crap out of it. :)
@fd- I was SO overly amused by that. I was giggling like a 4-year-old
@ejs- Ooohh, I'm going straight. I should have said that. I look like a MORON with curled hair. I am just not good with curls, sadly. :(
@ribs- I need to do some crazy run-around hair tests.
yes! you need a good volumizing blow dry gel. you must be careful because some gels can be just too heavy on fine or skinny hair, but they are typically meant for a stronger hold. Redken has two products you might like that are new, and i've used them on a ton of clients already.
Velvet Gelatine:

and this one is actually not a gel, but a cream-mousse...the strangest product so far, but i use it everyday on my fine hair and i absolutley love it. a bit more hold than the velvet gelatine:

One more that I've always loved is Rusk Thick. It's a spray and it works really well, but don't expect your hair to be super smooth and soft. It wont be sticky, but because it gives so much texture (which we need!) it will feel a little coarser. So worth it.

btw, i wouldn't buy these online or in a drugstore. Only buy professional hair care in salons or through the manufacturer themselves. Anywhere else, these products are victims of Diversion, making them either conterfeit, contaminated, damaged, expired or even more costly.
good luck!
Ah! Straight hair. Gotcha. Up or down?
My hair frizzes up BIG TIME and I really like the Argan Morrocan Oil my SIL gave me...it's not greasy like the other hair oils/serums/etc I've used before. A little bit of silicone gel is fine but too much and it gets greasy fast. It's an art form =]
What about this? It's a Humidity Blocker. I like KMS products...they have a vanilla berry kind of spray that smells yummy. http://www.sleekhair.com/2610.html
I originally wanted to wear my hair down as well. Then I got to thinking about the sweat, frizz, and the August heat that it would have to endure. I'm just biting the bullet and getting an updo, better than greasy hair!

My hair looks the best down, but I am so afraid to wear my hair down on the wedding day.
1- June in GA. Hot as nads. Ugh.
2- Hair plastering to face.
3- I want it to look awesome and thick, so I'd need to get a lil' weave.
Are there any hair products that will keep fine hair dry, awesome, and in place all day/night? HALP!
My hairs:
(Yes, I was being creepy with the photo booth the other day. I was making a head heart. It's just the best showing I have of my hair and it's thin-sheet-ness. And yes, that's my room from when I was 4).
