Have you looked at WaterWorks Restaurant? They are in Philly, are on the water, and it’s gorgeous.

Waterworks is definitely going to be over the $20K budget. Have you looked at places down the shore? The Atlantic City/Ventnor/Margate/Longport/Cape May area is only about an hour from Philly (depending on traffic, obviously). Also, did you check out Bartram Gardens, Morris Arboretum, and Tyler Arboretum?

I don’t know a whole lot about NJ venues…I’ve just seen photos from a few weddings, but I have no idea about cost and stuff, so I’m sorry!

@abarnes:  I am getting married at The Manor House at Prophecy Creek Park, in Ambler, PA. I believe, depending on your guest list and meal selections, you can definitely make it work, budget-wise. It is GORGEOUS. The ceremony site is right next to two ponds, and its amazing. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the place for us. It’s about 20-30 mins outside of Philly. You have to use the caterer, but they’re fabulous (Robert Fair Catering, look them up!). Check it out! I made a link to their website below.. Good luck!

@abarnes:  If you look at restaurants, as @Reeniero: suggested, make sure you factor in everything that’s included.  You need virtually no equipment rentals (maybe table linens, and that’s it) at a restaurant.  They have tables, chairs, plates, glasses, forks, knives, even spoons – yes spoons too! 😛

And, at most places, there isn’t a rental fee, just a minimum spend, so whatever you’re paying them will include your catering.  The minimum spend is based on what they’d make if they opened up that night, instead of closing down for your event.  So, you can get a lower minimum spend by changing the time, and day of the week.  If you were willing to do 1:30 pm on a weekday, for example, it might become quite affordable.

We went to a beautiful outdoor wedding at the Warrington Country Club last summer and we are now looking into it ourselves. It scene is beautiful, overlooking many many acres and the facility itself is really gorgeous. Not to mention the food was delicious! I think for your price range, it may be a good choice to look into! Good luck! I know it can get very frustrating. http://www.warringtoncountryclub.com/

We’re getting married at Brigalias in NJ which is amazing and has outdoor space in the back to get married but maybe not exactly what you are looking for.  Can’t say enough good things about them though!

Have you looked at Aldie Mansion?  I was just there for a wedding in April and the grounds are incredibly beautiful.  The couple got married outside, had cokctail hour on the patio and semi-outside/inside adn then we had dinner in their big room which is all windows overlooking scenery.  I think you have to go with their caterers but I can’t say enough about the food-it was amazing!
