I may be freaking prematurely since our wedding is far off still, but one of my constant worries is that I am 13 inches shorter that my FI.  I'm 5'1 and he's 6'2.  His entire family is very tall.  At his younger siblings' (twins) middle school graduation, I took a picture with them, and they posted it on FB.  All of their relatives abroad asked who I was and identified me as "the short girl".  They were in MIDDLE SCHOOL and already almost a foot taller than me!

The point is that I am not a high heel girl.  I live my life in flats and on a day to day basis, I don't mind (and actually kind of like) being so much shorter than my FI.

However, I do not like how short I look in pictures.  I'm going to be his wife, not his child!

So I need some help finding shoes for the big day that are super comfortable (since I'm not used to wearing heels), pretty, and will give me at least 4 inches of height.

I can't be the only one with this problem.  Are there any shortie brides out there who have some advice or shoe suggestions?

I feel you - my husband is 6'8" and I'm 5'4".  For me, as much as they can hurt, I wear heels, otherwise I'm craning my neck back so I can see him.  What about getting some wedges?  They have so many different ones out there and they are much more comfortable than heels.

I wore something like this for my beach wedding and they gave me a good 3"-3.5":  http://www.kmart.com/qupid-women-39-s-lena-wedge-sandal-45-purple/p-035B018786980001P

I have the same issue- I am a full foot shorter than my FI and much shorter than everyone in our bridal party as well, and I look young- so I fear looking like the flower girl at my own wedding! I am going to wear 6.5 inch platforms under my dress! I know you said you don't like heels, and I never wear them either, but if you find some platforms that have a large platform under the toes as well then you should be relatively comfortable. Mine only feel like 2-3 inch heels because they have a 2.5 inch platform under my toes. Think stripper heels, lol! I'm also asking my bridesmaids to wear flats. If you really really want to be totally comfortable then take a look at Toms wedding styles, they have some wedges with a decent heel that are ridiculously comfortable.

I would suggest a platform type of a shoe, No not like the ones that the spice girls wore. They have some very nice ones with chunky heals that are really easy to walk in. That is what I got for my wedding. They have lots of support so it isn't like you are wobbling all over on a little tiny heel.

Also wear them at home constantly before the wedding. You want them broke in because if they arn't you will never survive. I wear mine while I do the dishes and everything. It is fun. Well it is more funny because I am usually in my work out clothes lol.

Yep I'm in the same boat, I'm 5'2 and my FI is 6'4! But I embrace my shortness. I have 2 inch heels that I'm planning on wearing. I think it's kind of cute that we have such a huge height difference!

At 5'5 I don't consider myself short, but FI does, he's 6'4. 2 BM's are shorter than me and one is taller, I told them to wear flats, but that's mostly for their own comfort.  As someone who has flat feet, and discomfort from them and a bad ankle, shoes are always an issue. But like you I do need some height.

These are my shoes but mine are purple. 3.25 inch heel. I've been wearing them around the house on and off for a few months and they seem comfy so far.

I wore these (Nina Electra) all night and there were as comfy as can be!  I'm also used to wearing at least 3.5 inches on a daily basis though.  Oh, and it only feels like a 3.75 inch heels since it has a nice half inch platform which makes a big difference.

Bebe has some of the most comfortable skyscraper heels I've ever worn. as PPs said, look for a shoe with a platform, it definitely helps.

Check out these and these, they're what I saw skimming through. Not sure what colour you're thinking.

I can't offer any help beyond what everyone else has said, but I feel your pain!  FI and I are the same way, though we're each one inch taller than you two.  He's the short one in his family, too.  :(

I think I have you all beat - I'm 5 feet on the dot!

Platforms are pretty much the only way to go. And like the pic of the Nina Electra shoes posted above by pinkshoes, i find the best platforms are the ones where the platform part is actually covered on the side by the fabric (like the pic). It's also not obvious you are wearing platforms then.

And having straps around the ankle will definitely help with stability (not to mention keeping you heel in your shoe - a problem for those like me with narrow feet).

Have you thought of wearing wedges?  Usually more comfortable than heels but you can still get the height you need

I have these but there are lots of dressy wedges in all sorts of colors

My DH is 6'10" and I am barely 5'5"

I wore 5" heels that had platoform toes so it didnt feel so tall.  I had platforms to change into for dancing. We took pics of my heels and the guys matching socks.

OMG you guys, thank you so much for these suggestions! I'm loving the idea of a wedge, but those bebe heels seriously knocked my little flat wearing behind out. FIERCE. And so much height!! I like that the heel is sturdy looking. I'm totally finding a store where I can try those suckers out. I'm sure its way more than I can handle, but a girls gotta try!! Haha

I am also 5'1" with a 6'2" fiance! Try www.urbanog.com ... I was gonna get a shoe there, until I changed my mind on my dress, and they didn't have exactly what i needed. They have lots of tall affordable stilettos and heels that are tall. Walk around in them at home to break them in, and get the feel of them. Hope you find your perfect shoe! here's mine, sorry it's so big
