I have a mermaid dress and I'm planning on having it bustled. There are plenty of mermaid dresses I've seen around The Knot and even here at Weddingbee that have been bustled really beautifully. Talk to your seamstress/alterations place about this because it can definitely be done!
Check out this post to see Mrs. Bell Pepper's mermaid dress bustle, for instance. :)

I just got my wedding dress, and I'm soo excited because it's a Monique Lheullier...but I'm worried about ruining the hem and train of the dress. Does anyone know how to prevent the train from getting ruined and snagged? It's a mermaid style shape with a train, so I can't really make a bustle or anything. Is there some kind of tape or protector to put under the hem?
