I’m so lost! My Fiance and I found a cake topper we love. The only problem is it doesn’t look like us. By look like us I mean the figurine’s have different hair color than we do. I have brown hair while my fiance has blonde. The figurines are the exact opposite. Grrr, we really like it but if we have figurines do they have to look like us? It might be a silly question…. but I’m just not sure. Help… please! I could use as much feedback as possible.
Thanks fellow bee’s!
P.S: Here is the a link to the cake topper we love.

I love the “love pinch”, but I would find it a tad weird if the cake topper was the complete opposite of the B&G.

Personally, I don’t think it’s crucial that they look like you (I think I’m going to be having turtle figurines for my topper, so luckily I won’t have to worry!).
If you love the topper and it’s going to make you smile on your day and represents the 2 of you, then get it! If you think you are going to be worrying that it doesn’t match with your hair colors while you’re cutting the cake or hate that the hair is wrong every time you see a picture of it, then don’t buy it.

I honestly don’t think it matters if it’s the opposite of what you look like. I would think it was more weird if like the groom had your fiance’s hair color and the bride had a hair color that didn’t match yours. But if they’re BOTH off, I think it’s ok LOL.

What about getting model paints and a tiny brush and painting over the hair? If you got the right paint and have a steady hand no one would be able to tell.

i agree with Vonnegurl, you could try to paint over it. It might be a little difficult painting over the dark hair color, where you might have to try to layer on the paint.
It really doesn’t make that much difference though. With everything that is going on at your wedding, will the guests really notice something so small? i don’t think so.

Our cake topper was a traditional Welsh love spoon. It didn’t look a bit like us!

^^^^ doesn’t look like the kids, but it is DANG cute and speaks volumes about their University Love

I voted no, but then read the idea of painting it! Perfect! Find someone who is crafty if you don’t think you’re up for the task.

I vote paint the hair (I didn’t actually vote since that’s not a choice).

I don’t really think that the figurines need to look like you two. Isn’t super customization a fairly newer concept? Also, as Tampamom pointed out, people use anything and everything to represent themselves without it being an exact physical representation. I say go for it, and I think that if the hair is a concern, slicey’s idea to paint the hair is pretty easy and brilliant! 🙂

The cake topper is too cute. But when it comes to figurines its almost a rule of thumb they should look like you.
You could buy them and repaint them to look more like you!

I don’t really think it’s a big deal! If you like it, go for it!

Thank you all so much! I hadn’t even thought of painting their hair. When I had emailed weddingstar they said they themselves wouldn’t do it. It just never crossed my mind. I’ll see if my dad can paint their hair. I shouldn’t have a paintbrush in my hand unless it’s to paint a wall. lol. Thanks again.
@ TampaMom: Yay! GO GATORS! lol
