Anyone have any good smoothie or protein shake recipes??
Disclaimer – I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed next week, so preferably recipes that do NOT contain strawberries/seeds (or anything else similar that can get lodged in the holes)?

When I had really bad TMJD associated jaw cramping, I could barely open my mouth, so I lived on smoothies.
My favorite Apple Banana:
– 2 large bananas, cut into 1″ slices to make blending easier
– 1 vanilla greek yogurt cup (5.3 oz) (could also use plain if you want to add some Splenda to sweeten it up)
– 1/2 to 1 cup cinnamon or regular applesauce
– Ice cubes
Amaaaazing. Makes 2-3 servings, and the greek yogurt gives you some protein (12ish g/cup).

If you like peanutbutter this is awesome!!
2 bananas, broken into chunks
2 cups milk
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 tablespoons honey, or to taste
2 cups ice cubes
Place bananas, milk, peanut butter, honey, and ice cubes in a blender; blend until smooth, about 30 seconds.

Good luck with your wisdom teeth! I got mine out a few years ago, it wasn’t bad. Just a few things to think about before making any smoothies: 1- sucking through a straw may pop your stitches, so it best to eat them with a spoon. 2- Anything with citrus fruits will BURN really badly, because you’re putting acid into an open wound (the Fiance learned that one the hard way). So stay away from anything with orange juice, pineapple, grapefruit, etc. I also found cranberry juice and other berries to be somewhat problematic in the burning department.
I would recommend sticking to soups (not tomato based), ice cream, and yogurt.

I just got my teeth pulled too. I had strawberries just fine. (Just don’t use a straw)
Here’s my favorite. I have it EVERY morning. I never get sick of it. It tastes just ike a PB and J.
1 cup of strawberries
1/4 cup cottage cheese (just for the protein, you can barely taste it)
1 cup of milk
2 Tbs of peanut butter.

I’ve been making this every morning for breakfast for the last 6 weeks. It’s supposed to be really healthy for you.
– 1-2 bananas (I use 2 so that it’s more filling)
– 1 cup water (could use juice but I dont to avoid the sugar)
– 1 cup of frozen fruit (I mostly use mango and peaches, sometimes strawberries)
– 1-2 handfuls of spinach (you can’t taste it at all!)
This is where I found it. It says its for weight loss but I think it’s just healthy in general.

Also try Pinterest. They have tons of good recipes. I have a few saved but the site is blocked at work so I can’t access my board.

@AGTbee: Thanks! I was planning on using a spoon for these – I’ve heard horror stories about dry socket!! And I didn’t even THINK about the citrus factor!! Ahh!! Glad you warned me!!
@mandigrl04: Really, seeds were fine? That’s awesome to hear!
These are all great!!

If you want something premade, I like the Naked juices green machine and blue machine. I add a little protein powder when I’m in a hurry. My Fi had his teeth out last year and he survived on KFC mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs and Wendy’s frostys.
