Fiance’s sister is going to sing during our wedding ceremony. I’m super excited because she has a wonderful voice. Does anyone have any suggestions of songs for her to sing? This is a non-religious, garden wedding ceremony. We are blending Jewish/Catholic traditions, so we are lighting the unity candle under the chuppah. I’m planning on having her sing right after the unity candle lighting (the focus of our unity candle is uniting our families).
I’ve googled this so much and haven’t come up with much that I’m wow’ed by. Right now, I’m leaning towards “Heavenly Day” by Patty Griffin. Thoughts?

I’m walking to Eastmountainsouth “So Are You to Me” and Have seen it done in some ceremonies… I’m sure she could pull it off

What accompaniment will she have? Is she a capella or will there be a keyboard/harp/guitar?
Do you want to stick with pops or classical or something off beat?
I’ve always loved french art songs for gardens.

I haven’t really decided what kind of accompaniment she would have – I suppose it depends on the song. No shortage of musicians around at our wedding, so a guitar or keyboard (or track) wouldn’t be much of an issue.
I don’t really have a clear preference – I like all kinds of music and am not afraid of off beat. Not really feeling the classical though.
What do you mean by french art songs?

Just googled french art songs. I think I’m looking for something more modern. They are beautiful though!

Yeah, I hate using the term ‘classical’ because that technically refers to music from about 1730 to 1820, not everything before 1900 🙂 I am not as much of a fan of the classical period as I am Renaissance!
It sounds like you might want something popular with a twist. 😀

My friend is singing Can you Feel the Love Tonight from the Lion King. I like this song because it’s a love song, but it’s not her singing about how much she loves us.

I have the same problem, what I’ve done is listening to our local country music radio station and writing down any that I like…that might help you?
Btw firefighter’s make the best husbands, eh? My FI is one as well as me LOL 🙂
