I went for my hair and makeup trial today, and, while I liked how she did my makeup, I’m not crazy about the hair. I showed her this pic for inspiration:
and this was the result:
Obviously, she’s going to hide the bobby pins and fix the frizzies on teh actual wedding day; this was just a quick trial, but I still don’t think I’d like it. The braids look completely different, and I think the curls look horrible. Am I just over reacting? Should I choose a different style, or should I just have her change some stuff to make this one work?

@lilsistam: looks like she tried to do it but it doesn’t quite look right. Try a different hairstylist, I really like the original pic 🙂

It looks like she didnt grab enough hair to do the braids, the original pictures hair is gathered all the way down to her ear. Her hair also looks like it might be normal-thick, and your hair looks rather thin (same as me , which can be a pain in the butt for updos)

I agree with PP. She made the braids too thin…but there’s a bigger issue. Your hair is definitely thinner than the girl in the inspiration picture. It’s not going to look the same without adding extensions.
That said, if you have your heart set on that particular look (which is lovely, by the way), have you considered doing clip-in hair extensions? They would add the necessary volume and thickness you need to create the look that you want. If done right, no one will know it isn’t your real hair.

@lilsistam: The inspiration pic is gorgeous, but…I don’t know if you have enough hair for that. Maybe you could use clip in extensions for some fullness. Or try another style.

The braids are too thin, but it’s very similar. I can see why you are not crazy about it.

I would suggest clip-in extensions. Your hair is too thin for that hairstyle 🙁 The braids and curls both need to be thicker. I love the inspiration pic, but I don’t like what she did 🙁

the inspiration picture probably has hair extensions. i say go with a different hairtstyle.

@loving_life: that was my first thought. I dont think your hair is thick enough for this style so it wont matter who does it unless you add extensions.

You are not overreacting- this looks nothing like the picture! I would be tempted to switch hairstylists. And maybe hair styles. There are plenty of updos with that same sort of braid.
I agree with most of the previous posters. Clip-in extensions are super easy and make a world of difference!

I would deff put in a few hair extensions, the girl in the pic has much thicker hair.x

I seriously would go with a differet hairstylist, Iwould also braid extra hair into the braid to make it thicker
