WOW! Sapphire, you are one lucky mama!
I was able to avoid morning sickness throughout the entire pregnancy (Yay me!). In comparison to other preggie woman, I have been able to avoid problems. I was actually told by a prev. preggie woman that I am one happy preggie woman. That is really all I can ever ask for.
Of course I didn't get away from it all but what I have gone through is so minute which makes me really grateful!
WOW! I hope I can be so lucky! I'm dreading morning sickness the most. I hate the feeling of naseau.
I think pregnancy just agrees with some people better than others :) My mom hated being prego but my aunt always says she felt awesome pregnant and loved it!
MightySapphire - how far along are you? and do you know what gender you're having? i'm going to go out on a limb and say boy :]
i had 3.5 months of sickies. and not just morning. all day. especially at night. no fun.
Wow!!! I can only hope that I have a similar pregnancy as you when it comes my turn! What an awesome pregnancy!!!!
@BOP: I'm 32+4 and I'm having a girl. :-) Sevenish more weeks!
My mom said she never got morning sickness either, so I'm thinking maybe it's genetic? She also never got stretch marks. Maybe I should be thanking my mom instead, LOL!
I don't want to bring you down... :) But my baby book says if you are light-skinned, you have a 90% chance of getting stretch marks. Apparently there's a significant number of women who don't get stretch marks until AFTER they give birth. It does sound like you've been really lucky, MightySapphire! I hope it holds out for you!
I feel like I've been pretty lucky this pregnancy. Besides like 4 months of bad morning sickness, I haven't experienced anything I couldn't handle. And (again besides the morning sickness) I haven't had any medical problems. So I think that's pretty good!
Are you having a boy ? Do you know? With my forst pregnancy I had ALLLLLL the symptoms and was completely miserable. I actually lost 14 pounds from morning sickness. This was my daughter. Then with my 2nd, I had nothing. and it was a boy. I have heard wives tales about girls stealing your beauty, lol, and making you miserable....but I figured i would throw this out because it actually happened to be true in my case :-)
You're one lucky momma! I had horrible morning sickness, I wasn't necessarily puking all the time, but I constantly felt like I was about to until I was around 16 weeks... and for those of you saying it's a girl thing, it's not, I'm having a boy :) I still get a little bit nauseous in the mornings before I eat. It's one of those things I'm not going to miss. No stretch marks yet either, but I've heard from a few moms that those can show up after the baby's born, like Spring said.
With my oldest daughter, I had horroble morning sickness for seven months. It was so awful. I was also And I didn't get any stretch marks. Until after my due date. And then they showed up. F**kers.
With my youngest daughter, I had really bad morning sickness and was so tired and got the stupid splotches of dark on my face and I was super super emotional, but I don't think I got any more stretch marks with her. My nesting was crzy too. I tore every baseboard off the wall in our house and scrubbed walls and floors, etc. I also went on a paper shredding frenzy.
With this pregnancy, I've been a little nauseous and very tired, but otherwise I've been feeling okay! I'm hoping to escape some the ickiness of my past pregancies this time!
My mom never had morning sickness, and neither did I, really... at least not the traditional puking type. I felt sick every morning from about 4 to 14 weeks, but never badly enough to puke.
I didn't get any stretch marks on my boobs until I started breastfeeding, and the tummy ones stayed away until 38 weeks. Now I am totally tiger-striped. :)
Never had the hands/feet swelling... didn't gain weight anywhere but my belly and my butt until again, about 38 weeks, when my face started to get a little chunky. I had a pretty small belly until 40 weeks (I was induced at 42), and went apartment shopping with my SIL at 39 weeks... people asked me when I was due, I told them, "Oh, any day now!" and they were shocked, thinking I was six months or so!
Oh yeah, and my acne went away during pregnancy. :P
My mama said she had no morning sickness, no stretch marks, and was back in a bathing suit within 6 weeks after all three births (all girls)!! Let's hope these genes were passed onto me!!!
I didn't get horrible sickness either. Only a couple small stretch marks on my sides that aren't noticable (got them on my boobs though!), got a faint dark line down my belly, my button stayed in. I got really bloated in the end though!
I can't say that I avoided symptoms... but nothing has been so horrible that I can't handle it, and by and large I feel pretty well.
Someone told me early on that you will never be as pregnant as you are in the first trimester, and I found that to be absolutely true. I never again want to visit those weird, wild weeks! At 33 weeks, though, I'm feeling pretty good (though fat).
@December: Oh yeah, my face cleared up too! I'll be sad when it comes back, too bad it can't stay like this!
oh oh i hope I'm this lucky when I get pregnant! I don't want everyone up in my business esp. at work!
Majorly jealous of you, Sapphire! I felt gross/sick until about 16 weeks... and I was so exhausted, that I'd often fall asleep right at my desk (oops!) At 20 weeks I'm finally feeling good again. At least that long sick phase helped me avoid the dreaded weight gain so far... because believe me, weight does NOT need to be gained on my part! That was my silver lining during all those yucky days.
I'm lucky like you, MightySapphire - absolutely no symptoms except the linea negra which I got really really early, like at 13 weeks or something, but it's very pale. (And btw, I'm 32 weeks tomorrow - we almost have the exact same due date!)
I think it's good to share that not everyone suffers during pregnancy. If I'd known this before I got pregnant, I could have spent my time hoping instead of having nightmares. :-P
Also about the stretch marks, I just learned from my midwife that if you have a long torso you're less likely to get them because your tummy doesn't stick out as much (baby has more room to stretch out vertically). Who knew?
@Seabreaze: Date twins, LOL! Hey, who knew my long torso and monkey arms would keep me stretchmark free?? LOL!! Loving it!
Yeah, part of the reason I wanted to start this thread is because a lot of threads focus on all the fear of pregnancy and the horrible symptoms, but I haven't had most of them. I actually really like being pregnant! In another life, I may have been like Michelle Duggar and just been pregnant all the time, haha. So for all the ladies out there who are terrified, I'm telling you: Pregnancy can be a fun, wonderful, amazing thing! I really truly love it and I'm sad that it will end in 8 weeks or less!
With my first pregnancy, I can say I didn't have morning sickness--but that was only because I had all-day sickness!
I had a second pregnancy with no morning sickness, but it ended with a miscarriage. The really funny part was when, with my third pregnancy, I didn't have morning sickness. I called up my doctor in a panic, thinking this meant I would lose the baby, and told her I felt "too well."
I too have been extremely lucky...no morning sickness, clear skin, no stretch marks (keeping my fingers crossed on that one!), and relatively few aches and pains.

Beekeeper
Just wondering how many Bees managed to avoid detection by the Pregnancy Symptoms Monster? Every day I wake and am grateful that I haven't had morning sickness. Ever. I don't have stretch marks at all (from pregnancy, hehe). I don't have swelling hands or feet. I don't have the dreaded mask of pregnancy. My hair isn't too oily, neither is my skin. I still don't see my linea negra, and my OB think I may never. Because of my height and build, I didn't have a bump until 24 weeks and it wasn't really big until 29 weeks. Aside from three or four incidents (chronicled elsewhere on WB) I haven't really even had the crazy "pregnancy anger" either. And while I'm a complete control freak, I feel like I have my nesting instinct under control for the moment. I basically am singing a HALELUJIA!! from the top on my lungs!!
Have any of you avoided one symptom or another that you're really grateful for?
