Just wanted to share the good news…just found out today that I passed my state bar exam!! And I start my new job in 2 weeks! I am INCREDIBLY happy because this has been a long, hard road for DH and me. Took a lot of hard work and tears and struggles for both of us (financial, emotional, marital) but we’ve come out the other side and it feels so good.
Of course, now the hard work of being a first-year associate begins, but at this point, we feel ready for anything. Any first-job advice for newbies (lawyer or otherwise) is more than welcome!

cav2014: Congratulations!!! That is a huge accomplishment. You should feel proud and relax now that you’re done studying for the bar. Okay, relaxation time is up. I need a brief on my desk FIVE MINUTES AGO! What are you doing relaxing? GO, GO, GO! 😛

Congratulations. My advice for your first year(s) is work your ass off. How you do in your first job or two really sets the tone for your career and your ability to move around (which lawyers do a lot)! Good luck!
