So bees, I have a veil, a gorgeous cathedral two tier half gather that I really like, but i don’t love it! I always wanted a silk drop veil, so I decided to use some of my personal savings for it and splurge. I thought I wanted a cathedral length, but now looking at pictures I’m worried it is too much. My wedding will be outdoors.
So bees, is a cathedral length too much? What do you recommend?? I never thought I wanted a shorter veil but now I am reconsidering because of the bee!
This is the only somewhat decent photo I have of the train, its supposed to be a chapel length.
And a picture with my veil, it needed a good steaming though so now it looks morer veil like and less bunched, that might affect it, should I just keep this one?

i’m not a fan of cathedral in general; voted for fingertip

@minipenguin: I think the cathedral looks lovely with your trumpet dress. I’m not the biggest fan of two-tiered veils because I personally would never wear one over my face (that’s what the shorter one is for, right?) but it’s just a personal preference.
I think cathedral or fingertip would be best!

I love both fingertip and cathedral, I can’t choose! 🙂

i think the long looks great with your dress! also your dress looks so pretty and you look great in it!

the thing with silk veils is they are so expensive and sit really flat on your head.. there’s no oumph to them. I like hte cathedral or fingertip.

I voted chapel length because I didn’t really read carefully that you already have a cathedral veil I really just meant that I think you should go long. I think it looks stunning with your dress. If you do decide to go short, I think fingertip over elbow length.

I’m confused…is the one in the pic the cathedral? That’s the one I voted for…cathedral.
That’s what I’ll be having…cathedral, 2 tier. I will not be wearing one over my face. Just two tiers, removing the cathedral when it’s reception time. I want to wear a veil the whole time. It’s been my dream since I was a little girl.

Mine is waltz length. It comes to mid-calf. I thought it was a good compromise between fingertip and cathedral. It doesn’t seem to be a common length. I got mine on Etsy.

I think fingertip would compliment the flare in your dress. A cathedral sort of pulls away from your body because of its length. LOVE LOVE LOVE your dress BTW! Your body’s slammin’!!!!

@kimm99: Mine too! I wanted the flowiness and drama of a longer veil, but I’m getting married outside in May, so I opted for waltz length, which doesn’t drag on the ground.

I personally love the drama of a long veil with a mermaid dress. Mine is cathedral length, although I have ordered a couple of smaller blusher veils to play around with, and will probably use one of those for the reception.

Thanks so much for your advice bees!!!! I’m still on the fence 🙁 Right now its between fingertip or cathedral! Ugh so tough!! I’m really considering ordering a cathedral for the ceremony and the pictures time and having a fingertip for the reception. Maybe having them set on two differenet combs? But that means no drop veil 🙁 This is harder than picking my dress!!!
