I’ve been planning to propose to my Fiance with his wedding band before we get married March 8th. He mentioned it when we got it as a half-joke, but I knew I wanted to do it.
We went to a delicious seafood dinner last night. When we were leaving the house, he almost caught me grabbing his ring out of the box..as I had it in my hand waiting for him to turn so I could stuff it in my pocket. When we got to the restaurant, I saw my brother’s ex girlfriend was working (such great luck!) there and pulled her aside and told her the plan and asked her if the chef could make a dessert with the words “Marry me?”.
I got back to the table and he started questioning me about what we were talking about. He was getting a tiny bit upset because he thought I was keeping something from him. I told him he would find out later, but to please drop it now.
He went to the bathroom and my waitress (who was amazing) came over and finalized the plan. She wouldn’t ask us if we wanted desert, but wait til we finished and bring it over.
Bees, he was SHOCKED. He started CRYING after he saw the plate and I presented him with the ring. I started crying because he was crying. I can’t believe his reaction was so genuine and moving. I love this man so much. I’m glad I could do something so romantic for him and I’m happy I pulled it off! I even tipped the waitress and kitchen staff an extra 50 bucks for being so awesome!

@CreatureFromTheBlackLagoon: This is ADORABLE.
I’m glad it went so smoothly and that he was so touched. You guys sound perfect for each other.
My mom proposed to my dad, and not as a followup to his proposal, either- it was THE proposal. And they’re still together and happy as clams 38 years later, so I have a soft spot for stories of women turning wedding-related expectations on their heads.

I LOVE this idea!!! And I have actually been thinking about doing the same thing for my Fiance ever since he jokingly mentioned wanting to be proposed to! We’re still a ways away from getting his wedding band, but once we do, I would love to do the same! I’m so glad it worked out so well!! That is such a cute story! I love that he was so moved by it!!! 🙂
