I can FINALLY breathe!
ever since I got the ring I knew I wasn’t going to be able to keep it hidden for long! So I wanted to propose on sunday when we both are free and have really nothing to do!
I somehow tricked my NOW FIANCE that I wanted to see these gardens just to see it and she was excited to see it with me! So yesterday we decided to go see a movie and then go to the gardens, but the movie she wanted to see was starting at 2:30 and would end around 5pm, which I had no problem with. But today, something told me to check the admission hours for the garden to make sure we got in! Low and behold, the last admission time was 4:30pm and this is where I wanted to propose! So I acted uninterested in seeing the movie hoping that she would say “ok, lets go to the gardens”. Of course, it wasn’t that easy. We spent 30 mins just talking about which one is better and luckily she caved! So we get dressed! I tell her to go start the car so it can warm up which would give me a chance to grab the ring and some tissues! Then we head to the gardens which is only 25 minutes away from our house….
When we got to the gardens, I realized it was a lot busier than what i expected! there was people everywhere, so I went on a hunt to find a nice and private area! after walking up a steep hill (and walking back down that same hill) luckily I find this nice spot with a couple benches that was off the walking path (sorry garden staff) and I asked if she wanted to sit down because we both didn’t recognize the hill was so steep!
Instead of sitting down I’m standing in front of her and she begins to hug my waist. In my head, I’m thinking this is the perfect time. I begin my speech with something like “there has been something you wanted me to do for a while now and I now have the resources to do it…” at this point, she’s like “WHAT!” and so I proceed to get down on my knee and begin my speel… I had prethought of somethings I wanted to say, but all i could utter was ” her name… will you marry me” because I was SOOOOOOO NERVOUS! She literally says “NO” and begins to shake her head. At this point I didn’t have the ring out so she said it like “NO- what are you doing” In my laughing manner, I say “No…really… no” and proceed to pull out the ring. Realizing it is real after I have told her I wasn’t going to do it, she began to cry and I looked well prepared as I broughout the tissues. Throughout the tears, she utters “off course!”
She nearly knocked me over when she immediately began to hug me since I was still on my knees (HA) but after she wiped her tears away, she was able to see the beautiful ring!
After she realized that I had actually popped the question, we started a good laugh because I started making fun of her facial expressions as I proposed and she cracked up.
She even told me that she was wondering why I was pushing the gardens so hard compared to the movie, especially since I hate the outdoors, and I said well now you know! (i probably would have still proposed at the movie theatres lol)
I’m so happy she loves the ring, and that I was able to keep the surprise! It’s been a wonderful experience, although a scary one at that! But she was overjoyed!
