I started a new job about 11 weeks ago. Halfway through the first day on the job, I realized the company had some SERIOUS problems. I tried to stick it out. I did my best. But, I couldn’t take it anymore!! The ethical violations (I’m an attorney), the poor customer/client service, and the fact that I had to make a sexual harassment complaint within 11 weeks, well, the place was intolerable.
I wrote a professional (but direct) resignation letter letting them know that I would not be returning. I don’t care that I did give the regular 2-week notice. I don’t want their referral. In fact, I will leave the entire experience off my resume. I don’t want people knowing I worked for this law firm!
I don’t have a new job lined up, and yet, I’ve never felt so free! Fiance says I don’t need to find a new job and that I can just stay home, but I feel a little guilty about the idea. Oh well, I can worry about that another day – today I celebrate leaving job hell!!!
Cheers to better days and better opportunities (or at least ones where I am not asked to violate professional ethics and I’m not subject to sexual harassment)

You go girl!
You did the right thing, and I know good things will be coming your way!

Good work!! That sounds like it was an awful job! I did something similar just the other week – reduced my shifts and have gone back to uni. It’s so good to be able to just walk away from something like that and go and do something you love! Good for you!!

*high five* I did the same exact thing as you 3 months ago. Quit a job after 1 year with nothing lined up. It was awesome, best decision I ever made. Congratulations!!

I am glad there are some other bee’s who have left their jobs without something lined up and didn’t regret the decision! I must admit that after I hit the send button that i had a moment of panic (the typical “omg, what have I done!”). But, after getting home and settling in, I feel so much better! I know I did the right thing.

I just did the same thing, but I made sure I had a part time job (that could lead to full time) lined up first. However, I hate this position and am looking elsewhere. My boss knows it though… I’d love to be able to be free to stay home for a few weeks and just chill. You are very lucky!

There’s nothing worse than working in a crap environment! I did the same thing about 2 years ago. I had been with the company about 3 years and the last 8 months or so were complete hell. I left without anything lined up and, yeah, while it was a bit scary.. Best. Decision. Ever!

I have to say I loved waking up this morning without the anxiety and panic that I felt each day. I didn’t feel sick to my stomach this morning, either! Imagine that….leave hell and suddenly you don’t feel sick anymore!

Good for you! I’ve been there, was talked to like a dog once, I let it go, then the second time, I was out, I lasted 4.5 months BARELY. Good for you, life is too short– so I say f*ck ’em…
