My wedding dress shopping experience was amazing! Well, after my MOH tried to tell me I needed to un-invite some of ladies attending… You see, I had 2 of 6 sisters going along with my FI’s sister (who is also one of my BM’s) and then, after including my daughter, my momma dukes, my FI’s mom, his 2nd momma and grandma, my MOH and another GF of mine, there were 11 of us! Yes, some may think that is a lot but I wanted everyone on that list by my side, and 3 days out my MOH decides that its way to many and even wrote an email for me to send to those I decided to un-invite. I don’t think she was too happy about it but I still had every one of those ladies there, and you know what… it was the best experience I could have ever had!
Well, now that I went completey off topic, about my dress… I had about 10 dresses on my DB account and my consultant immediatly went on a mission to find those while us ladies browsed a little. holy bananas, I hadn’t a clue what I was doing in there… it was like a jungle of all things, white, ivory, champagne, lace and bling… everywhere! Needless to say, tt was a little overwhelming… thank goodness for the girls I had by my side. My soon-to-be SIL found a lace 3/4 sleeve dress that didnt happen to be on my list, so we made that the initial dress I tried on while my consultant grabbed my picks. Luckily my MOH previously worked at DB and was there to help me finagle my way into the fit-and-flare slip and molded bra, now onto the dress… well, the first one was a dud, before I even went out in front of my clan of ladies I brought with me and all the mirrors, I knew it wasnt my dress. They all agreed and I quickly turned around to put on dress #2…
Now, this dress is the one I dreamt about, the one that I looked at over and over again before my appointment. I instantly found myself in awe as my MOH zipped me up… when I stepped out I felt it, I felt just like a bride-to-be. I may have even had a tear before I saw myself in the mirror. I stepped up in front of the 10 ladies I brought with me and a mirror the size of my dinning room wall… It looked just as perfect as I had dreamt, and it wasnt like that dress you see on a maniquien that looks oh-so-good on her, but not so much yourself, it was the dress that looks even better on you! And as you ladies know, that doesnt happen often, or well, not in my case at least. I tried on a couple more dresses, the one after was absolutely stunning… I mean the intriquette details of lace and tiny raised subtle pink flowers was just absolutely breath-taking. Some of the ladies deemed this their favortite. My sister labeled the next one as looking like our grandma’s old table cloth.
After that, I decided to come out in the one. Drum role, please! It was #2 that I decided on, my dream dress! It is a strapless trumpet gown with floral and lace detail until it drops to an organza tiered fit and flare skirt. <3 Once my consultant placed a midnight blue ribbon around my upper waist and found the perfect veil to place upon my head, I was in tears. I looked at my my future MIL and said “I can see myslef marrying your son in this dress” That was it, we looked at each other, hugged and shed a few tears. All of my ladies had such a blissful look on there faces as I rang that beautiful bell at DB and said yes to my dress!
After asking a few questions, I went to the front desk and put a special order in for my dress. Even though the size 8 was a perfect fit, I decided to go with a 6 becuase I know for a fact that I would like to be a healthier, leaner me before the wedding (and I have until OCT2015). Some are giving me grief, but I myself, consider it motivation.
Please excuse the long story, I am just so excited to share and would love to hear some other stories. A GF of mine told me its good to write down your experience becuase when you have a wedding a little far out its good to look back on when your in “oh my goodness did I pick the wrong dress mode”
Hope ya’ll bee’s are havin’ a buzzin’ Tuesday!
