Hi there bees!
My Fiance proposed Aug 31!
I had a feeling it was coming pretty soon as we’d set a timeline several months ago and he was starting to get secretive on me.
There were a few “OMG this is it!” moments, one of which I will share:
Fri afternoon he texted me and said he wanted fro yo (frozen yogurt. We both love love love it.) I said “mmm yum! We should go this weekend”.
I then left my desk to go talk to someone and came back 5 minutes later and there was a little bouncy ball from Menchi’s Frozen Yogurt sitting on my desk! I FREAKED OUT (thinking he had come to my work to propose) and rushed over to my friend’s cubicle. She said it looked like I had seen a ghost. I was so so nervous, I couldn’t even talk. I finally managed a “did you leave this at my desk?!” to which she replied “Oh, yes. I know you like Menchi’s and I thought it was really cute!”
Holy. Crapola. I seriously thought I was going to pass out.
So, that was a false alarm. A few minutes later, my guy texted me to ask that I reschedule our evening appointment and that he was making our fav dinner instead. He wanted to know very specifically when I would be home. (Unusual for him.) Okay. Here we go!
I got on the bus to go home and was semi certain that I’d be walking into my house to a proposal. However, when I got there, he was all calm and normal and cheery. No ring box in his pants pocket, no roses on the table.. I thought to myself “oops, I read too deep into the signals- it’s not happening today.” I happily accepted the Mike’s strawberry margarita he handed me. (A special treat!!) We then sat down to eat dinner and watch one of our fav shows on HGTV.
45 minutes into the 1 hour show:
Him “Let’s take the dog to the park”
Me “Okay, sure! This show is almost done.”
Him “No -let’s go right now.”
Me “Uhh sure, okay.”
((5 minutes of getting ready, putting shoes on etc))
Him “Do you want to take the dog?”
Me “I thought that’s why we were going to the park..??” (getting nervous..)
Him “Oh, right. Okay. Let’s take her with us!”
We really love Jack Block Park on Alki beach in west Seattle. It overlooks downtown, and it’s nice and peaceful. 🙂 We probably go about once a month since we moved to the area.
Neither of us had considered that the blue moon was rising and so it could be busier than normal. We get to the park and our usual look out had a few people there. My boy wasn’t watching the scenery — he was hugging me and acting a little anxious. After ten minutes or so he asked that we go to the lower dock. I actually prefer that one because it’s literally sitting on the water and it’s just so beautiful. We get down there and he turns (away from downtown view) and hugs me for several seconds. Finally, FINALLY, he starts with “So, I called and talked to your mom today..”
Me “Oh? What is she up to?” (He’s talked to her once or twice before without me being present, so I didn’t want to get too excited..)
Him “Well, she said I could give you this…” (Pulls out the ring, drops to his knee, and then spends a good 30 seconds deciding which knee he should be on. He switched back and forth a few times. Both of us were giggling at this point!)
“Bunny, I love you so much. *insert several adorable sappy things here that I wish I had written down!!!*” He paused for what seemed like 10 minutes before asking THE question. He knew I was waiting for it. 😉
He asked, looked up at me all hopeful and cute and happy, and I put my hands on his shoulders, grinned like a maniac, and replied “Abso-freaking-lutely!!!”
We decided to stay on that pier for about 1/2 an hour to watch the sun finish setting and the moon rise. Omg. It was beautiful. I also couldn’t stop staring at the ring! I took some pictures, played with our corgi for a bit, and then we went off to frozen yogurt at Menchi’s! 😀
When we got home I was still floating around. He said “Before you sit down, I have another surprise! Go into the living room”. He vanished for a moment, and reappeared with a dozen red roses! He’d hidden them in our garage. Sneaky sneaky!!
It actually took two full days to reach my other parent who was traveling at the time, so we had our little secret for a bit until we were able to talk to everyone in the family.
Now onto the real reason you are here:
This is my shiny. The center stone is a 1.25ct amora moissanite. It is set in the moissyco antique bella halo in palladium, and I wear a size 10.5 (don’t judge!). I got my hands from my grandfather.. Feet, too! Oh well. 🙂
My birthday was Monday 9/3 and my co-workers decorated my desk on 9/5 so I used the confetti as a backdrop. 😉
