Dress shopping has come to an end — thank goodness!! I know shopping for THE dress is supposed to be the most exciting part of the wedding journey. I wasn’t feeling too excited about it from the get-go, nor did I have a great time while doing it. I honestly probably tried on close to 100 dresses over the past few months (6 appointments). I had thought that I wanted very simple, a-aline, pockets… My ceremony and cocktail hour are outdoors and our reception is being held at a rustic barn, so I knew the poofy ball gown and layers and layers of tulle were out.
This past Saturday, my mother and I headed to Alfred Angelo, which was about an hour and a half away from us. There were a few AA dresses I wanted to try on that the shops near me didn’t carry (mainly the Disney line). My girl was super helpful, and at the end of the appointment put me in this dress:
Alfred Angelo 850 — the one I tried on was lined. I fell in love with this dress! It was everything I thought I did not want (lace, mroe form fitting. flower detailing on it..), but my mother and I left there to think about it over lunch. We actually ended up strolling into David’s Bridal, after some protest.
My consultant there was super helpful, too, and put me in a bunch of White by Vera Wang dresses. I loved so many of them!! Again, these were pretty much everything I thought I didn’t want. There were 3 I was really struggling between, and in the end, I decided on the 351020. I kind of lucked out because the dress is discontinued so I got it for about 50% off of the original tag (yay!), but I had to take the “sample” dress. It’s actually in flawless condition and only about a size too big (but probably the size I would have ordered, anyway). I’m just second guessing myself because we brought the gown home with us and my wedding is 13 MONTHS away!! That’s a lot of time to dwell on a gown. I already deleted my Pintrest gown boards to help avoid this. I really like this gown because of the accordian pleats and the fact that it’s still whimsical while still allowing me to be able to move and dance all night long.
But, yikes!! I cannot even commit to a cellphone ladies without having regret a few hours later. I don’t know how I am going to make it 13 months!
Here she is — with proper alterations, she’ll be a fit and flare. I haven’t decided on a sash yet, even though I love it with the black. We shall see.
