Well I'm on this site when I should be studying too...lol.. I just try to schedule it into my calendar. It's actually very helpful. If an idea strikes me I just jot it down in my planner and know that I can go back to it at my designated time. Pretty much every other day I tell myself I'll browse from like 4-5. Then any free time-which is far and in between for me with two kids, a house, and a college career- I wedding dream then. Also, when I do laundry I say it's safe to wedding plan while I'm waiting for it to be done lol. Good Luck on your last semester!
@TequilaSunrise: Wow kudos to you! I can only imagine how difficult it must be at times for you. I love hearing stories about strong women who are able to have a family, take care of the house, and go to college all at the same time and be successful at it! You truly are an inspiration to many. Thanks for your tips too!
@beachchicbride: Thanks for the kudos! I'm very lucky that I don't have to work though. I know lots of women who have a much heavier load than me because they are either single moms or have to work on top of everything.
@TequilaSunrise: No problem. Those kudos are well deserved!
And I think we always need to count our blessings. :)
I'm definitely guilty of posting on here when I should be studying.... When I should be doing things school related that don't require the internet, I try to disconnect my computer from the wireless so I'll be less tempted to just open a browser... It's SO HARD, though!
@colli459:I have to agree whole heartedly! I think it is an addiction that I can't shake no matter how hard I try or what measures I take! I guess I just need to cut cold turkey but that's no fun at all hehe
It's a happy release for me... I have my first qualifying exam next Tuesday to the 31st (it's the first major hurdle doctoral students have to jump to get to the next level - it's then the 2nd qualifying exam a year later, and then the dissertation fun begins!) and I probably should be freaking out right now but I've forced myself to just zen out, get on a normal sleeping schedule and not worry about "studying" for something that you can't really study for ...
...but there is a big difference between trolling the net instead of writing a paper I have due the next day and doing what I'm doing now lol. I have to take a wedding bee hiatus until it's over once I get the exam next week :(
@cmvmph: Yikes Best of luck on your qualifying exam! I hate tests that you can't really study for. I have been guilty of roaming random sites the night a paper is due when I have barely made a dent in it! It always seems to work out in the end.
And I see that hiatus from the Bee will probably go into effect later on ;) My studying for this test on complex care including trauma, burns, shock, and hemodynamics status is not going over well. I could give a summary about them but not take an exam...and do well! At least I have one more day to study.
I hope your exam goes well, BeachChicBride!! You will surprise yourself because if you can give a summary about them (and hopefully you developed some cheeky mneomic devices for you to remember some of the tricky stuff, which always helps me! I write them down on the exam as SOON as I get it so I won't have to fret remembering them later on!) , you will do great! The hiatus begins tomorrow evening when I look over the exam. I am going to be tempted to go online and kill time but I really should focus on the exam only. I've worked too hard to flub this up... but we'll both do fine :) I know it
I should be writing my theis paper... instead i am hideing from my advisor in the Libary and playing on here and pinterest...
@cmvmph: Making mnemonics really is the best way!! My friends and I have so much fun making crazy stuff up.
@imalittlebirdie: LOL to hiding from your advisor!
@imalittlebirdie: Pinterest is my growing procrastination tool too!! What's your thesis topic??
Well, again I am distracted from doing school work because of WB. haha But also, I discovered this: http://wedinator.icanhascheezburger.com the other day.... Some pretty awesome stuff and some silly stuff.
I'm awful!!!! I am in nursing, and I have state boards coming up soon, for vocation nursing, and I take classes at a community college as well. I'm always on here!! However for me, I thoroughly enjoy getting all my school stuff done and out of the way, that way I can browse guilt free.
Haha - I read this post and thought "I should be grading!" Guess it works on both ends of the classroom!
I am seriously so sick of school. i didn't take a break from undergrad to grad and I'm just tired. Looking forward to being done in a couple of months. I kill a lot of time on here and a lot of time half a**ing my homework lol
i'm guilty of being on here or watching tv (or both!) when i should be studying. i work as well so it's certainly a full load!
I should be studying but I'm on here instead. My motivation is quite lacking at the moment.
I should also be studying but here I am. Queen of procrastination. I have to work the next 4 days as well and I have a huge test due by Sunday night. And I really need to get on that. Oh well.
I'm also graduating this year.. I've been so distracted that I missed the deadline to apply for grad school :S
Mid term for a very borring class tomorrow, my first 'test' in almost 5 years... and I should be studying for it, but I currently lack the modivation :(
@missashley884: Good luck on your boards! I still don't even know WHEN I will be able to take them after I graduate. We have these *helpful* Kaplan tests that determine whether I can take it immediately after graduating or not until August/September!
Surprisingly, right now I have NOTHING to study for! I just finished a rotation, took my final yesterday and am waiting to start back up again next week! Yay for breaks :)
I am totally in the same boat as you!! At the beginning of the semester I was neglecting wedding planning duties and completely focused on school (planning had been pretty stressful at that point). We finally booked our venue last week and now it could not be more opposite! I need to snap out of it... Midterms have crept up on me!!!
so glad Im not on this boat by myself, I graduate in may and I am so busy trying to get a job, graduate with half decent grades, and get this wedding together Im afraid of what is slipping through
@missashley884: Im in nursing too! I take my NCLEX in May but I live in an area where it is impossible for new grads to get jobs so my main issue is trying to line up a job so we wont be broke forever!
Omg, this is what I do every day instead of sleeping or studying....
I am glad I am not the only one, I have 79 days and counting left of my course - in that time I have 2 * 12 page essays, my dissertation and 6 exams to do. However the first 3 things all have to be finished and in within 25 days :( I am getting a little stressed about it all now, I have decided I am going to travel the 2 hours to uni tomorrow and get all my research done for the two essays and then write them over the next few days . . .
So, I thought to be productive, I would do some of my dissertation today, I decided this 2 hours ago whilst on here, and I am still on here :(
Bees! I'm having the same problem! I have 3 pieces of uni coursework due in but I can't help but procrastinate! I'm been trying to complete one piece over several months now, still no where near finished! I can't wait till April, when all my work should have been done and handed in. Then have the wedding and honeymoon to look forward too!
I come to my office to work instead of home. Here all the fun sites (except the Bee of course) are blocked. If I were at home I'd be pinteresting, watching TV, doing dishes, etc. Here, I'm trapped and the only distraction from my school work is my actual work!

Sorry, there are no users yet.
...but instead I am spending countless hours looking at other brides dresses, cakes, flowers, and especially recaps. I cannot wait until April 30 and I take my last final for my college career and can then focus on everything and anything wedding related without feeling guilty. ;)
College bees, what do you do to keep you motivated and focused on your schooling when you want to focus all on your wedding plans??
