I have been thinking of planning a road trip for N and I to take after he graduates police academy and before he starts his job as a Christmas present for him. I thought about it for a couple of days before I decided to contacy his aunt, who lives in San Francisco, and ask her advice on what to do and see on a road trip in California. (Side note: specifically road trip because then we could have a car to drive around and it’s otherwise the same price as a flight to drive out there- so basically we would be saving the cost of a rental car, and this way we could bring camping stuff and save on hotel costs, too).
The very same day that I contact his aunt, when i get home, N says something like “my mom said we can use her frequent flyer miles to take a trip after I graduate”. since he was all ready to plan a trip and the timing (right after I contacted his aunt) was a crazy coincidence, I told him how I had just talked to his aunt and was going to plan a trip as a surprise for his Christmas present. He didn’t seem at all fased by this information and didn’t say anything about what a good present it would have been (I was a little disappointed about that), but otherwise I figured it was just a coincidence.
Until today, when I got a new reply from his aunt, saying she and her SO were thinking we should FLY into San Fran to visit them and then rent a car to drive down to LA and FLY home from there. Now, i know it could still be a coincidence, but since i had specifically said road trip before (making it sound like we were going to see other stuff on the way (i was thinking vegas), and i even pointed out that since it was a road trip we could be more flexible and play things by ear), i thought it was odd she would say that we should fly out there, only a couple days after N told me his mom would let us use her frequent flyer miles.
I feel like there is a plot of some kind going on! I realize this could all be coincidence, but it just feels like there is something going on. I wondered a little from the beginning when he brought up a trip the very same day I talked to his aunt. It’s possible he wants to propose on the trip, but I thought he was concerned about money (he doesn’t need to be, he has lots of cash). Maybe the whole money concern thing was a ruse as well? Agh, I’m just confusing myself more.
Anyway, just wanted to share my suspicion! Don’t worry, I won’t get my hopes up about the trip…. Okay, not TOO much!
Edit: She knows the trip was supposed to be a surprise, so she wouldn’t have talked to his mom about it without cautioning her not to talk to N, but she told N we could use her frequent flier miles for a trip.
