WooHoo!!! I need to take lessons. I have one to sell. It is for a bride-to-bee that is only 5'3 or so with flats! All hemmed and bustled. Help!
Dang, I'm also signing up for your classes! I've sold my dress. However, NotFroofy is 5'1", and even with the heels she wore, she only got up to 5'3". And although we know NotFroofy's dress is a Da Vinci, we don't know the style number, which also doesn't help.
YAY!!!!! Congrats!! I hope I am so lucky when I sell the ones I'm keeping!
Thanks ladies! I love being able to share with the Hive my happy wedding-related news that noone else cares about :)
I really think it's a combination of patience and luck. And unfortunately, pricing them low. I sold the two unused but altered (or ordered petite length) ones at 40% off, and the used one at 60% off. The latter was not dry cleaned and had a little small tear in the tulle. For months I didn't get anything and I started despairing after discovering the tear. Then I reduced the price a little more, posted a youtube video on my ad, and suddenly inquiries started pouring in. I think a video of the dress in action shows it so much better than photos can. In fact after I shipped it I kept getting emails from two other girls who were so upset I sold it that they offered to pay more than what I sold it for. I thought "where were you for the past three months"?
@2dBride: One of mine was an unworn sample for which I didn't know the style number. I just listed it as "ballgown" and posted lots of close-up photos. I thought it wouldn't sell, but oddly that was the first to go. Might've been the Vera Wang name combined with the low price though.
that's great, meliss!!!!
i think your idea of posting a video is a great idea! i will have to do that once i get my video back! thanks for sharing!
Congrats!!! So hard being a multi-dress bride... I totally understand your joy and good luck selling the last one. Where did you post?
That's awesome! Congrats!
What site(s) did you use to sell the dresses?
Thanks again
I listed on preownedweddingdresses, oncewed, bravobride, craigslist and the classifieds here. Sold all three through powd, with 21 inquiries total. I got NOTHING from the other sites.
Oh and the last one left was my favorite of the four, the one I wore for my reception. I think lesser known designer + higher price decreases the marketability of the dress, even when it's gorgeous (at least in my eyes). Maybe I'll keep that one after all.

I just officially sold my third dress and received payment. I'm so happy!!! Only one more dress to go :) I was worried because I'm only 5'3" and I had several interested brides who couldn't fit into the dresses, but they all finally found the right girls. My dresses are now making three brides happy around the world. And I feel (only slightly) less bad for going crazy and buying four dresses :)
