So…I have been dress shopping. possibly a little too much. 8 stores in 1 week. Let me first say that I am having a destination wedding. Let me secondly state that I was head over heels for the blush coloured Divina Dress by Maggie Sottero before I had tried anything on. I still LOVE LOVE LOVE the Divina…HOWEVER…I have also fallen in love with a few other dresses along the way! I kind of feel like i’m cheating on my first love (Divina) …ohhhh what to do. So initially i thought that I would try the Divina and that the weight of it wasnt at all a factor. My exact response was “I don’t care if it isnt a destination dress, if I love it I’ll wear it…its only one day” …well since then I have tried the dress. Had it on it the salon for about 10 minutes. Realized how heavy the dress actually was…bc when i went to take it off I was sweating…and im in CANADA! I realized that this may be a problem if I am planning to wear the dress in mexico (for more than 10 mins) . So. that being said, I have tried on some more dresses. One option that really stands out to me is a Paloma Blanca dress (4202) …modern, drama at the bottom, fun, AND lightweight. its very different than the divina…so Im a little conflicted. But i DO really love it…but maybe its just hard for me to accept bc I am so not over the Divina yet!
I Also really love this dess by Allure….again, its lighter than the Divina with a similar kind of shape and effect.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? Is it ok to give up on my divina dreams bc this dress just isnt ideal for a destination wedding?
This is the Paloma Blanca…Its very rich, the quality shows…love the button detain down the zipper in the back
next…the Allure dress. Love the ruffles.
And this is the divina…my first love.
whats your favourite dress? All opinions and feedback welcome 🙂

@Blushingbella: gosh, I would love to. see someone in the first one!!!! so couture, I am tired of the divina, and the allure is similaer to the divina..do you hve a pic in the paloma?!

I love the Divina and the first one. The Allure just looks like a copy of the Divina (although it is still very pretty). I say stick with what you originally fell in love with.

@Blushingbella: I think all 3 dresses are lovely. My vote, though, is to go for the Allure dress. It’s so similar to the Divina, which is what you seem to really love … But you also said it was much lighter. Since you’re having a destination wedding in Mexico (and I assume you don’t want to sweat your ass off!), you should go for the lighter gown.

I love both the allure and the paloma blanca

Love the paloma! I’m not a big fan of busy skirts but I love that one. The pattern is so much more interesting than the allure/divina ruffles. Between that and the fact that it’s lightweight I think it’ll be perfect.

Let me just add that the allure dress is $1500..the Paloma Blaca is $2600…BUT the salon has offered to sell it to me off the rack for 50% off! So it comes in around $1300. The Divina is around $1900.

I vote for the lightweight one. You dont wanna pass out on your wedding from having a too hot and heavy dress.

@Blushingbella: what?!!! that is an ammmmazing deal on the paloma. I’d buy it instantly!!! where is this salon? haha what size aee you nd how tall are you?

Eep, I don’t know. I’d say go with your first love and suffer through the heat! That’s because I chose not to buy my dream dress and went with another one…and then I ended up buying my dream dress anyway and wasted a lot of money. Oops!
If you don’t think you’ll regret it, I love the Paloma! But a dream dress is a dream dress…

@Blushingbella: Okay first of all, I would NEVER want to give up on a dream dress. If you really feel like the Divina is the one you love, just get it and don’t look back!
However, I like the 2nd option for your venue… I feel like the ruffles would move in the wind of a destination wedding and it looks light and fluffy enough to not be a concern in the heat.. although to be honest, any traditional dress is going to be hot in Mexico so I’m not really going to consider that… you should just be warned! lol
I like the Paloma Blanca but its not as fun as the 2nd or Davina so I would choose one of those instead because Destination weddings are FUN!
Hope I’ve helped!

REALLY love the Paloma Blanca.

The Paloma Blanca is really pretty amazing. I love the classic silhouette, but it set itself apart from all the other mermaid dresses with that the detail on the train. SO romantic, and as another bee commented, quite couture-like in the design. And if its comfortable and lightweight, even better!
Plus, I am personally not a fan of the ruffles on the Divina.

i love the paloma blanca. that skirt is amazing.

Not a fan of any of them, really. I am a firm believer that ruffles do not flatter anyone. The first one is the lesser of the three evils for me.
