My goal was to have about 85 people at our wedding (although the room holds 100). When figuring out who to invite we did the A list B list thing, but all on one spreadsheet and then eventually I downloaded a spreadsheet online from The Plunge. I LOVE it! It lets you put in a guestimate percentange on whether each guest will attend and tallies the yesses and nos. Well somehow…I let the spreadsheet tell me it was ok to invite 113 people!
As of yesterday I had 39 yesses and 1 no. I couldn’t sleep the other night so I decided to analyze the spreadsheet in more detail. Duh! Of course Fiance and myself were not on there. Make the total invitees 115! Then finally today in the mail I got a no response…for 2! So excited! (sad right?) When I go to my spreadsheet I realize that that couple was not even on there! What?! So now, 117 invited.
After so much careful planning I don’t get how I was so careless? Anyone else in the same boat?

I wouldn’t get too worried, most of your no’s will be the people that RSVP last or not at all. I think you should be ok!

Haha I got worried when I had 25 yesses and started wishing for nos, and then I got 10 nos. It goes up and down like the stock market. Don’t stress yourself too much over it. A lot of the nos come in last minute anyway.

All of our “no’s” came at the end…don’t worry too much now.

I would agree – don’t worry too much now. The first RSVP’s are probably from the people who know without a doubt that they’ll be able to make it… As the end draws near you’ll find people who tried, but just can’t swing it, and therefore you’ll have more no’s.

I’ll agree with everybody on here, that the No’s will wait till the last minute, or not reply at all. Just for a point of reference, we invited 127 and ended up at 85 as of today. 5 people changed their response from yes to no, THIS WEEK.

Like everyone says –the no’s are hemming and hawing. They’ll come in last. We invited too many people in my opinion, although I *think* our venue holds up to 250 or 300. We invited maybe 185-200 (can’t remember), but ended up with only 125 (AND had FIVE no-shows!!)

I think you’ll be ok. Like others said I think you will get more “yes” answers in the beginning.

I am in the same boat. I did not expect so many people to say yes! Our final guest count is due in a few weeks and I have 120 “Yes” and I only have room for 100. I have no idea of a polite way to invite someone?!?
