Seriously, how else would you explain me putting off SO many things? And the wedding is now just over 2 months away, and school starts back up for me tomorrow… so I wait until today to try and do stuff. LOL. Ridiculous.
I was in some fantasyland of “plenty of time” I guess, and now I am in full blown freak out mode… pffft.
I just wonder why I do this to myself? I do it all the time, by the way, not just with wedding stuff.. I do it with research papers, studying, household stuff, etc. I always get the stuff done too, just in some frantic crazed last minute way that my mom swears is going to cause me a “heart attack by age 40”.

I do this to myself all the time too. I have come to the realization that I do my best work in “last minute panic” mode and when I am under a lot of stress. This is fine! Some people just work like that, and reassuringly, there are lots of jobs for people like us who sort of enjoy stress in a weird way.
I also find that I get more done when my schedule is busier. It allows me to allocate my time and schedule everything out, which I really enjoy doing. When I have too much free time, my mind tends to wander and I wind up doing stupid stuff like playing video games instead of focusing on the one or two important things I have to do. However, if I have say 10 important things to do, then I’m going to sit down, focus, and hammer them out one by one and ensure I don’t get distracted.
You may want to check out Tim Ferriss’ book, “The 4-Hour Workweek”, which is about scheduling/outsourcing and other techniques to make your life easier.

Im exactlt the same, but it just works for me. But I also know that I cant get away with it when planning a wedding because everything has to be booked etc. But I always seem to react better when Im doing stuff last minute!!

Thanks y’all… yes, procrastination has been lifelong thing for me. I had a professor a couple of semesters ago that liked to assign lots of papers, (Philosophy), and he told everyone at the first of the semester “Now remember, college leve writing can NOT be done at the last minute if you expect a good grade.”
Ha. I wrote EVERY paper for his class in the car the morning of class, sitting in front of Starbucks, and got an A on every paper. So yeah there was some of that childish “I’ll show you!” attitude, and it stressed me out each time, but I did it, and did it well!
I think I just got so relieved when I got all the “booking” stuff done (venue, reception location, lodging, musician, cake) and all the deposits sent that I felt like I was “done” for a long time, and really that is NOT the case at all! But mailing off checks made me feel like I was “done”.
And I totally agree about having a schedule/structure. I do get much more done when I am busy with school, vs. over break when I watched a LOT of Netflix and talked a lot about cleaning my house!

I am EXACTLY the same way! For some reason, I work better under stress. Last semester I took time to study for my exams and I did okay, but not great. The next exam, I pulled an all nighter and got a much better grade. I also think i’m a procrastinator.. i wait till the very last minute and then stress non-stop about it..
