So I’m really loving the look of this Twigs and Honey rhinestone veil. However, it is somewhat expensive ($150), so I was considering buying their mini tulle veil ($40) and adding rhinestones myself. I told my FI about it, and his response was “Well, I don’t really like the look of veils, but it’s whatever you want to do.”
What do I do with that?? Do I go ahead an do it? Or not spend the money because he doesn’t like it? Or go with a hair flower? Or nothing at all?
We are getting married at the courthouse and then having a small dinner at a fancy restaurant after with a few close family and friends.
The veil: (shown in blush, but I’d get ivory)
Here’s the dress:
Here’s what my hair looks like:

Get the veil. I have learned FI’s don’t care about much of anything bridal. Most just show up lol. It’s the only time you will get to wear it. I say go for it. It’s very pretty and it will look lovely On you.

When he heard “veil,” I’m sure he thought of a cathedral length veil, or something puffy that goes over your face and he’s supposed to lift it back. Most guys don’t even know what a birdcage veil is.

Get it (or make one like it). It’s your outfit, & I’m sure your FI will love your look when he sees you. My husband said that he doesn’t like veils, either, but I wore one anyway, because I wanted to.

My hair was about your length when I got married. I was going to wear it down, then last minute decided to do a teased pompadour. I thought I wanted a birdcage veil, then decided to go with a hair comb instead. Check out my hair comb [post moderated for self promotion]. From the looks of your dress, a veil would look really Jackie-o, but I can totally related not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on a veil. You could get a white headband and clue some tullle to it? Just a thought…

Go with the veil, it will definitely complete your bridal look.

Thank you for the input ladies!
@Tinkerbride13: I think you are right. It is the only time I can wear it. He hasn’t been super excited about wedding details. Don’t get me wrong, he’s excited about the wedding and getting married, just not about specifics.
@MarMBer: You’re right. I just needed to hear it. 😉
@stillme: You go girl!
@mmq5481: Jackie-O is exactly what I was thinking. Classic.

@CocoLoco523: Definitely wear the veil. It will make you feel more “bridal” on the day of and you want something that is a little different for your special day.

@CocoLoco523: Whenever I ask my FH something wedding related he will give his opinion and input but closes with: “In the end it’s whatever you want., I am just there to marry you and once you walk in no one will notice me anyways.” Mine is excited too. It’s just different being the bride. It doesn’t matter if its a big affair or something simple. Its your moment to own it! Whether you buy it or DIY, you deserve to wear one.

@Tinkerbride13: Awww that’s so sweet. Both what your fiance says to you and what you said to me. 🙂

@CocoLoco523: 🙂 In the end I would love to see what you go with. Have you checked on etsy for the veils? They have some nice ones very affordable too.
@Tinkerbride13: I did check etsy. Ultimately I am going with the Twigs and Honey mini tulle veil and I will add swarowski crystals to it. It is $40. I also considered Tessa Kim, but hers is $4 more. I know there are cheaper ones, but I still want a nice looking/feeling tulle. I’m not willing to DIY that part. Just not confident in my abilities there. I will def post pics once I get it and get it all fancied up.

This is WHY every Bride should adhere to Rule # 1
DON’T TELL YOUR GUY A THING ABOUT YOUR WEDDING LOOK
LET IT BE A SURPRISE
Guaranteed… they’ll be wowed over even if you wore a gunny sack !!!
Agree with Tangled: … guys don’t know much about anything Bridal (let alone women’s fashion in general)…
So when he heard the word veil he envisioned something elaborate… and knowing that you guys are having a courthouse wedding he couldn’t see that being a good idea / go well together

I think your Bridal Look is stunning… go with your gut. Do whatever you feel looks good / makes you feel like a million bucks on YOUR BIG DAY
You will rock it… he’ll LOVE it… I promise
