Relax and enjoy life.  No need to get all worked up and angry.  The important thing between you two is that you love each other.  Let him do his thing.  Guys NEED to plan this out and they think about it more than you will ever realize.

what is your timeline? The closer you get, the harder it is to wait!

as someone who’s been there, you have to let them do their thing. if you try to tell a guy what to do (not saying you have) they dig their heels in even more. just wait and enjoy the time you have together – while exciting, engagement is super stressful and can take its toll on your relationship. again, not everyone, but at least with us it did. some days I miss the lightheartedness and freedom of just dating.

and if you do develop an ulcer, you’ll know it. it’s hella bad – stomach-ache that you’ve never felt before. you probably are just having stress symptoms, but it takes constant stress and anxiety to develop an ulcer.

it’ll happen – just have patience.

I also have a timeline (sometime in July), but am finding it difficult to wait as well.  I really don’t know why it is that even when there is a timeline it’s still so hard to wait, especially as you get closer to the date.  Personally, I go through phases–there are days when I feel on top of the world and days that I’m convinced it’s never going to happen (at least not when I want it to!).

I wish I could offer you some sort of permanent solution for the pain of waiting! But take comfort in the fact that the feelings you have now won’t last.  There will be better days! And try your hardest to just take it one day at a time.  Maybe treat yourself to something nice every week–something to make you feel good.  That will also help you a bit along the way.  Just know that you’re not the only one going through this, and certainly won’t be the last.  Hopefully you’re time will come soon!

If it’s really an ulcer, it can take some time to go away.  Do your best with the stress and try the following to ease your pain:

Get some Omeprazole (Prilosec OTC – can be found at any drugstore!) and take some about 30 mins prior to every meal.  This is a proton pump inhibitor that will help protect your stomach lining when your stomach starts getting busy with the gastric acids when it’s time to eat.  If your pains persist or you notice any blood (especially black, tar-like blood) in any of your…excretions, see your doctor asap.  Otherwise, just try to be zen!

I have pretty chronic GERD and I was taking motrin for like…4 weeks straight bc of some dental problems and the ibuprofen ate the HELL out of my stomach.  Had stomach aches shortly after every meal and every administration of ibuprofen.  My dr prescribed me omeprazole (Rx strength) and it works better than ANYTHING else I’ve ever used, for both my GERD and my motrin problems.  Famotidine (pepcid) is commonly Rx’d, but it never really did much for me.

Hopefully your tummy can heal in time for you wedding and you can have a wonderful time!

@Sweetie Pie 21: That’s great that we have the same month! We can support each other throughout this insane waiting period! I’m pretty certain my SO is going to wait until the last week of July to even bring up the topic of our families meeting (which has to happen before we get engaged).  That’s his choice, but I’m just going to keep quiet until the end of July and see how things unfold.  I wish it were July already, simply because the waiting is getting harder. I also pray whenever it gets really hard, and it’s amazing how much it has helped me.  Keep it up girl, we’re in this together!
