So I just ordered my text books to start my grad class in three weeks. It finally feels real. I’m freaking out. There are so many unknowns. Will I even get a job after I spend 20 grand on top of the 20 grand I already have? I don’t do well with the unknown and things I can’t control (I’m type A all the way).
At least my FMIL thought it was a great idea. Although I told her we were going to wait the three years till i’m done to have kids. She keeps saying “oh you could have a baby and still do it” I just know our financial future depends on me going back. I can do it……I just have to keep telling myself that!

I was in your same situation 2 years ago and just finished my last requirements. The first semester is difficult when there are unknowns, but it gets easier with time. Good luck!

What kind of grad program? It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and wouldn’t have picked anything where you wouldn’t be marketable afterward!

It’s a lot to deal with, but I do think it’s worth it! I know I’m making $20,000/year more than my colleagues who didn’t go to grad school and despite the debt I am really happy. Grad school helped me find my passion and gave me more technical skills. It’s not necessary for everyone, but I’m glad I did it 🙂 Keep your head up!
