heres the scoop. My BF told me we were getting engaged before the end of july, and it would be somewhere other thn the small town we live in for school. That being said he bought me tickets to go see Josh Groban at the hollywood bowl on fourth of july because he knows how much I love Josh AND last year during 4th of july I told him how I think fireworks are very romantic.
Hes taking me to california for my first time tomorrow! Wednesday hes taking me to disney for the first time also, and then josh groban and then the beach/ santa monica pier and zoos/botanical gardens on saturday. I AM SO EXCITED.
Im thinking he’s going to propose this week, IM FREAKIN OUT BEES. So of course I got my nails all didddd just in case;)
First time doing gel nails- QUESTION for you ladies who have done gel nails before…did it hurt like ALL GET OUT?
I thought my hand was on fire when I put it in the UV light. That combned with the heat today caused me to almost pass out in the store….so I laid on the ground with my head above my legs in a salon. EMBARRASSING. I’m not one to pass out so whats that all about?!
With all that said I hope he proposes because beauty is pain;)

Gel nails hurt the first time you do them. LOL
All you have to do is take them out from
the UV light for about 30 seconds….the “fire” will cool down and then it wont hurt anymore.

@jovannarhea: Fingers crossed and congrats hunny!!!

The pain in the UV light is the heat spike if the tech has put the gel on quite thickly… it should be applied quite thinly. To help the heat spike you can gently pull your hand out and slowly put it back in again which should help. Are they still hurting now???

As soon as it starts to hurt a little, pull them out for a few and then put them back in (and repeat as necessary)

Hmmm, I’ve never had any pain from a gel manicure. That is so weird.

oooh sounds like a perfect week even if he doesn’t propose! Fingers crossed for you!
but yesssss! Mine burn like hell everytime and then feel bruised for a couple of days after as well depending on how rough the tech is. I used to get them done pretty frequently but not anymore. I don’t miss it haha.

I get gel nails all the time. If you have any sort of cut around your nail or if the gel somehow gets under your nail and touches the quick you’re done for. The pain is unbearable. Some places are better than others at not letting this happen. I’m about to switch back to acrylic. Congrats on all your travels and a possible engagement!!! I hope to be reading your proposal story soon. Good luck!!

@Dogsbody92 Yeah my nails feel bruised today…beauty is pain? Haha the things we go through. After this week I don’t think I’ll be getting them done very often anymore…
@bearsreddy Yeah they feel a little bruised. I’ve heard that they might have been doing it wrong which kinda scares me….

@jovannarhea: Gel nails hurt the first time depending how thin your nails are. When I got mine put on it hurt like crazy b/c I had super thin nails (b/c another salon convinced me to remove my gel nails and do something else. I hated it and went to get a new set put back on). It hurts, then you remove your hand from the light for 10-15 seconds and put back in and it’s not as bad.
The time after that when you get them refilled is not nearly as bad. By the next refill after that it doesn’t hurt at all!

The only time my gel nails hurt was when she trimmed my cuticles so roughly that they were bleeding. (Needless to say, I didn’t go back to her). I mean, they looked great, but oww….
