SO and I are less than 2 months away from making our big move to Portland, OR, and less than 3 months away from our 3 year anniversary. Been doing pretty well with handling the waiting period, but today I’ve encountered a problem.
We came across the most perfect ring about 5 months ago, but he made it very clear he wasn’t buying that day. He did ask me to send him the link to it specifically about a month later, and he looked at the specs on his phone again. I haven’t mentioned it since, though I’ve stalked it in the store since then.
I stopped by today with my mom while she was getting her wedding set cleaned and noticed that it wasn’t there. And now I looked it up on the site and saw the entire line IS ON CLEARANCE. So I’m pretty sure that it’s being discontinued.
I mentioned this rather sadly to SO just now and he sounded a little surprised, but didn’t add any more. Now, I’d be thrilled if SO proposed with a ring pop, but we both agreed that this ring is really quite perfect. So the thought of it not being available any more makes me very sad. :
But in the end, it’s not about the ring. So for now, I’m just focusing on our big move, and maybe my time will come around this fall. 🙂

=( maybe he’ll get on that and you’ll get the ring you want- if not, I’m sure you’ll find something else you love just as much!

@KickDrumHeart: I’m going through something similar, so I feel your pain!! I love this one specific designer, and he/she exclusively sells rings on one website. For some reason, they haven’t added any new rings since way before Christmas, which seemed weird to me since we’re still in engagement season/Valentine’s Day is coming up. I really hope they aren’t closing up shop or something, but I don’t have a good feeling about it. I was able to find some other rings I liked and sent those over to my SO, so we’ll see!
I hope your guy jumps on your ring while it’s still available!

Simple solution save stock photos from all angles screen shot the specs from the site and get it custom made..it may be cheaper that way anyways.

@KickDrumHeart: hopefully he has it or gets it for you. if not, you can always have it custom made. do you have a pic of what it looks like?

@KickDrumHeart: what’s the ring? Is it crazy unique or could it be replicated by another jeweller?

Pic of the dream ring please? And, he may have it already… you never know.

Pics please! We’d love to see what you have in mind 🙂

The ring isn’t incredibly crazy or detailed, and there’s actually quite a few similar to it, but every one I’ve looked at is too thin of a band or too gawdy for my taste. One of the main reasons I love this one so much was because my SO was actually the one that pointed it out to me, and mentioned that I’d rather have a sapphire than a diamond (he remembered!).
The first pic is of just the setting, which is how it comes. The second is with a sapphire that was just set in it so we could get an idea of what it would look like.
Sorry the pics are so massive! I don’t know how to shrink them!
Talked to him about it a bit more last night and his response… “Well, there will always be more rings!” Talk about a shot to the heart. Sigh.

@KickDrumHeart: I hope he snags it for you!
Be sure to pop over to the Portland board when you move to Portland. There are a lot of new girls – maybe we can all get together for a meet-up?

@KickDrumHeart: Hopefully he’ll use your dream ring as inspiration and find you something even more beautiful!

@KingsDaughter: yes I agree!!!! There are so many rings that are no longer being made but all you need is a picture and a jewler who does custom rings! Good luck!
