cats are such mysterious creatures.  i’d ask your vet if it’s normal.

He is such a pretty boy!! I love cats so much. Not sure on his…”issues”! That is very odd. I know this may sound crazy, but maybe you should call the vet. It is possible that they have heard of a cat doing something like this before and may be able to lend some advice.

EDIT- Looks like PP agrees that calling the vet may be a good idea…I am not so crazy afterall! =)

That is strange. I haven’t heard that before. My kitty has been acting weird too. He is totally craving tons of attention right now. He will go on meowing forever until he is noticed, but he doesn’t have the problems eating or using his litter box. I agree with the other girls about going to the vet.

From what I’ve always been told, most house animals won’t eat/drink/go potty unless you are there. My two dogs will not eat or drink while they are home alone since they do not want to have an accident. Then again, my mom’s dog will not drink out of her bowl anymore….she just goes to the waterfall faucet on my mom’s tub and whines until someone turns it on. Haha.

Ours get like that when we’ve been on a trip within the past few days. We have to leave for weekends at a time for work, and they hate it. They’re fed and taken care of during that time, but they’re both rather sensitive. After a weekend trip, Zoey also yowls at night. It stops after a few days of us being back, but always starts if we leave again. Sad!

my cats have never done that! The fact he won’t eat or use his box unless you’re around makes me think ‘dependency’ issue. Mine always liked to fill up the poop box for me, haha. “look mom, presents!”

Lol.  My cat is a lunatic but he hasn’t had that problem.  Your kitty is so cute though!

Aww… such a pretty kitty!  You def. should call the vet to rule out any health issues.  Is he going places other than in the box?  Sometimes kitties do this when they have bladder infections.

My kitty has horrible dependancy issues- she meows and meows and meows when I come home as though to say “MOM!  Where have you BEEN?  No one has been here to PET THE KITTY!!!!”

I hope your kitty is ok πŸ™  Maybe you need to get him a friend πŸ™‚

My orange tabby I had when growing up used to wait until someone would pet him before he would eat, too. Hmmm…

I would have the vet check your kitty out for the litter box issue.  I had a friend whose cat wouldn’t use the box and it was one of two things: they didn’t like the cover on the box, or they wanted a bigger litter box.

My cat will not eat at all unless someone is sitting the kitchen with her.
