and I am so devastated that I just want to cry. He’s being pretty quiet, so I can tell he is gutted too.
Things were just looking up for us financically. I’ve just got back to full time work after having 2 kids, and we were full steam ahead.
The silver lining I guess is that at least I am working, so we wont be poverty stricken.
But that said, we were already only having a small wedding, and now I am thinking that we may only be able to have the ceremony and no after party.
Things were so bright and beautiful yesterday, and now it just sucks!!!!!!!!
Thanks for listening!!

I hope things work out and he’ll avoid layoffs!
That being said, it may be good to start looking for potential jobs now if he’s starting to see warning signs. He might be able to jump to a more secure and even better role.

@Firie: make sure he has documentation that he’s losing his job due to being laid off so he can get unemployment insurance. you cant get benefits if he’s being terminated due to his performance, etc. so tell him to keep showing up and putting in 100%. annual reviews, anything, etc. good luck!
when i got laid off my benefits were $344/week. not much but it really helped during the job search!

We are still waiting to find out whats going on, and I am unsure of what if any assistance we will recieve if he does lose it. I am pretty sure I earn to much for him to recieve any government benefits. I currently earn $1500 a fortnight, so I am sure that puts as over the threshold
Basically his current work (which he has been in for three years) is classed as a temporary contract. Every 10 months they go through the process of readvertising the positions, and the crews have to reapply. Which makes it quite stressful around that time at home I might add. He has always felt secure in his job because his supierors are always selecting him to assist on training courses. and do to extra levels of training above everyone else. But there has just been this new women lateral transfered into the position of the department Manager, above someone else’s head who is more qualified then her. And she is one of these women who think to be a manager they have to be a total bitch. (and she is one, I have had to deal with her on the phone at work).
Basically she is trying to get rid of all the crews that the other manager employed just to asert her dominance.
So his round of interviews came up again, she was on the interview panel and basically totally put him down in the first instance before the interview even began. He has been having some trouble with his crew recently, there has been some bickering which always occurs when this period of reemployment happens.
Anyway, he was so put off by her attiude that he totally bombed the interview and at the end of the she bascially told him he has no chance of getting his job back this time around. He feels demoralised and totally depressed. And it turns out she only sat on the panel for interview of his crew, she did not sit in on any of the others.
Today his immediate supervisor called him and asked him to be in headoffice at 11am tomorrow to further discuss his interview. This supervisor usually does the interviews but this time wasn’t sitting on the panel because he was off assisting on base camps due to all the recent flooding. I am so hoping they are going to give him a second chance to interview, I am not sure why else they would of called him in. He was pretty much just expecting a phonecall telling him he didnt get through and with a wrap up date.
So fingers crossed, hopefully something is sorted out. And hopefully it will help him trust his superiors again, because at the moment he feels like he has been flipped the bird and told they don’t give a f$%^ about him.

meanwhile there has just been so much bad Ju Ju around us lately, his work, car troubles, kids getting sick, we lost our hand raised bird after one of the kids left the back door open and lots of other little things like computer trouble, frame falling down and causing a hole in the wall…….i think I need to perform a cleansing!!!

So ladies, its official.
My partner went the meeting today and got told his contract would not be renewed. Also his current contract expires in May, but they are finishing him up this afternoon in his current position, and he will spend the rest of the contract in a district office somewhere.
This is just a joke. And its quite obvious whats going on. Team Leaders are falling thick and fast. its clear that b%^chface is getting rid of every team leader employeed by the other manager. I think it is wrong when internal bickering and politics start effecting people’s employment.
And this is a bloody government organisation, You would think its a kindergarten the way the managers are acting.
Its a f^&*king Joke!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Firie: I am so sorry to hear this! I’ll be sending lots of good wishes your way. Hopefully he will find something else soon. Office politics and egos getting in the way of someone’s ability to provide for a family is just rediculous.

@MissGreenBean: thank you for the kind words. I have calmed down since yesterday, and don’t quite feel like the emotional wreck that I was. I’m not to sure whats going to happen from here, wait and see I suppose
