His name is Tiger, and he’s 15 years old. Last month, we found out he has a tumor in his throat, and we’ve just been trying to keep him around as long as we can. We’re happy we made it through the holidays with him. This morning, I woke up to puke all over the house, and I don’t know if it’s his tumor or his mouth, but there’s blood in his mouth. He hasn’t eaten at all today, and he won’t even have any catnip (which he loves).
He has an appointment with the vet at 5pm, and I’m pretty sure he’s getting put down at that point.
I’ve been in tears all day about it and telling him how much I love him.
Here’s the 2 of us

@memo: Oh no… Your poor kitty. I’m sorry. It’s so sad, but at least he will be free from suffering up in kitty heaven.

@memo: Aww I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. It is never easy to lose a pet, especially not to make the decision to put them to sleep. Both of my Dad’s longtime furbabies, who I basically considered also mine, passed away last year too :(. Big hugs!

Giant Hugs! Although I hope you are wrong and that kitty can be healed, I understand that sometimes you have to do what you have to do. 🙁 My heart is with you and your kitty! I am so so sorry. 15 years is a nice long life for a kitty, although it always feels much to short for us….

So sorry for this sad news. What a sweet face. I know how tough it is- I lost my kitty over 10 years ago and I still tear up thinking about it. It sounds like he had a long, happy life, I’m sure he would thank you for everything if he could.

@memo: AWWW..((((((((hugs))))))))))….he looks just like my cat! My kitty Tigger! I’m so sorry! You go ahead and hurt and cry and be devestated, and don’t let anyone minimize how much it hurts. Its amazing how your pets become family members. Those who aren’t animal people can’t understand that.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….
