For the past few years, every time someone brought up a wedding, my first question to the bride was about the dress. I would get soo excited each time the bride recapped her search for the perfect dress and the moment she finally found “the one”. Fast forward to today… I have the ring, the venue, and the date. I have the official green light to start shopping for the dress that will turn me into a princess for the day. Yet, after two shopping trips and numerous internet searches, I am overwhelmed and frustrated. Instead of a joyful experience, this is another item on my wedding checklist that needs to be completed.
The first picture is the dress that my friend convinced me was “the one”. It was also the very first dress I tried on. After leaving the store, and leaving my super persuasive friend, I realized that I would prefer a ball gown. Since my venue is a restored Victorian mansion, I feel that a fuller gown would be more appropriate. What do you ladies think?

Personally I think you rock the mermaid style. And I don’t think you really have to “match” your venue. Just get what you feel most beautiful in!

You look GREAT in that dress, but if I were you I would keep looking since you don’t seem sure about it and you have enough time.

You really rock that dress!! It flatters you.

I think you look awesome, but if you’re not 100% confident I feel it might read on your face.

I think that dress is very flattering on you but if its not what you want then keep looking.

The dress is gorgeous but you should keep looking until you find the right one. Is there anything from the dresses you have tried on that you loved? The one for me happened in my first shopping trip, 2nd store and about the 10th or 11th dress I tried on. Try on a ball gown though if you think you might like that. You will find it. Don’t let anyone tell you what you should get.

i think you look amazing in that dress and so i can see why your friend said that. but if you want a ball gown, then get a ball gown! i am sure you would look just as awesome in a ball gown and if its what you want, then you will feel just as amazing!
and i totally get the stressfulness of finding a dress. i had dress regret with my first dress and sold it. so after that it became overwhelming and at one i just wanted it to be over and find a dress already! i was getting so frustrated that they all started to blend together and so when i found my dress i didn;t even realize it until a couple of days later! i had kept comparing every dress after it to this one, so finally i admitted that was the one!

@juliasoko: I think that dress looks perfect on you to be honest. Also is that the Allure I see in the background hanging up? Did you try it on? Either way the dress you have on looks amazing.

I was in the same boat.
Dress shopping became a huge chore because i really couldn’t find anything that I really really liked. So I put it on the back burner for a while…a loooong while, practically until it was too late (I bought my dress this past weekend-now that is cutting it pretty close) and it actually really helped me to step back from the issue and think about it rationally.
What did I like, what didn’t I like, budget, must haves, must not haves etc.
I don’t think that a dress has to match the venue, but you should at least like what you will be wearing.
i think that while the dress you are wearing in the picture is very flattering on you, if you don’t like it keep looking. You never know, you might put on a ballgown and love it or hate it. Did you get to try any on while you looked?
You still have loads of time to make a decision so don’t feel pressured.

I see Adorae behind you! You look beautiful in this gown, but if you don’t love it you should keep looking! What about Maggie Sottero’s Sabelle, Ambrosia, or Kendra?

I think you look stunning in the dress! But if you don’t love it, don’t get it… simple as that!

I think you look gorgeous, you also look really happy.
